Welcome to the community Ally. Glad you found the best site on the web to keep your dreads happy and healthy. The guys will put you on the right track so you have have dreads for life if you so choose. You are lucky with your water type, you have many options on what dread shampoo or bar to use, they will not leave behind a residue in your dreads. You have softer water, hard water limits what can be used. Enjoy your journey, stay away from the hook and yours will grow strong...Peace

Welcome. It's good that you stopped crocheting. It does nothing to help locks, like I'm sure you've figured out.

But don't bother palm rolling. If you only do it once in a while, it doesn't help create any lasting knots. It only makes them look neat for a few hours. But once you wash, or go to sleep, they will go back to the way they were before. If you do it often, or aggressively, it will severely destroy your roots. I palm rolled daily for the first 2 weeks, and 7 years later I am still trying to fix the damage
