How I started my dreadlocks:
1. Wash hair.2. Dry hair.3. Section the hair. (anything from half an inch to 2 inch squares)4. Backcomb the sections. (took my friends over 11 hours)Maintaining:For the first month or two I pulled the loose hair into the dreads. Then I realised that it wasn't necessary because the hair does that itself in time.Washing:I use baking soda and tee trea oil in a 1 litre jug mixed with water. Pour it over the head and wait for ten minutes before rinsing well. I let it air dry.
yeah sorry about the sewing thing, i dont recommend it anymore, i have tried it and its lame, not good for the dreads at all. but wool hats are good coz iv tried that and it works very well.

no the sewing is not nesacary and is harmfuli would never do it
is it really nessasary to do the whole sewing thing? will they just develope on there own? what about wool hats?
i really do not recomend the sewingread in the dreaducation thread about crochetting its the same thingand will make your dreads high maintanance for lifeanlso2 inch is pretty thick and can lead to moldid never go over 1 inch,,additionalyt screw squares and looking like a checkerboardsecion randomly random sizes random shapes just be sure theres no crossed hairs atthe rootsthis gives ya a far more natural look
