My experience in the very beginning was mixed. I got sucked into the palm rolling idea before this site was around. I only palm rolled about 4 locks, but it completely destroyed the roots. I am still trying to fix the damage. I have a video on my page showing what happened. I did it enough to see progress, so for about a year I had 4 maturing locks and the rest of my hair was doing nothing.
I was one of the oddballs who's hair took an age to even start to do anything. Me and Ixchel on here.
I interlocked 1 or 2 once. That just hurt my scalp, so I stopped. Now I know how damaging it is. I used rubber bands for a few weeks but they just made my locks poke out in all sorts of directions and pinched them too tightly.
Most of them I just let form naturally. Once they started to lock, they did it really quickly.
Welcome. But you can't "put" locks in without doing major damage. Locks need to form over time. it takes about a full year for locks to mature.
Check out the dreaducation page before you start anything. Then check out the timeline forums. See what you'll be in for in the coming weeks and months.
