Julie Dunham posted a discussionnow i know wax isnt good for your dreads, but my babies are verry frizzy (which i know is normal) but i love wearing them down besides the friz. at wal-mart i bought 'murray's 100% pure austrailian bees wax'. because this is pure bees wax is it okay to put in my hair every now and then when i want to wear them down?

Comment by Kelly on February 15, 2013 at 10:17am Wax is never good. Never. You have a lot of frizzy days ahead of you, so get used to it. If your going out for a special event or something, you should time it so you have your wash that day. Then just air dry. Always calms my frizz.

Welcome fellow Ontarian! You have a journey ahead of you if you want natural clean dreads. Only two weeks in and you are worried about frizz.....chill and enjoy the ride. In order to have beautiful, clean and lightweight dreads, keep em product/wax etc free, not even once. I see you did twist and rip, that is the beginning of your journey. Now for the changes: Frizz will be your unwanted friend for a good month or so, it does settle down a lot. If it really bothers you, just don't look in the mirror. The vision of your locks now will change drastically, they won't look like your photo. They're gonna loosen up, shrink and get loopy, some crazy shapes will happen, it's quite amazing and fun to see. Eventually they will become the width of your root section.
Now all this will happen during your first year, during the second year they are busy maturing...So I guess what I really want to say is don't worry about the frizz, don't worry about anything with the looks, ...just enjoy the ride.
Happy Dreading
Comment by Castaway J on February 12, 2013 at 9:42pm No problem :) When I order the shampoo bars, she normally sends me a sample of the liquids, and I look forward to them. They definitely clean and help baby dreads form.
Comment by Castaway J on February 12, 2013 at 9:37pm The most you should "do" about frizz is a pat down. But you could also use 100% Aloe Vera to temporarily tame it. I've only used it for sever itches in the early stages of adjusting to the new washing methods etc.
beeswax is harder to remove then dread wax one use will ruin em fopr life if u dont spend a hell of alot of time removing it
