HELP HELP HELP WITH MY DREADS!!! separating them

ok Let me explain ..I been dreading for 9 months now! Used twist n rip method, no wax, no nothing, all natural. I had rubberbands on both roots and tips for 3 months and then I let them go because I heard they're not good for them. SO, everything was perfect, the days would pass, most of my roots were getting really knotty and hard and then I noticed that a few of my dreads (the ones on the back) were starting to combine ..and then it got to the point where I had 24 dreads ..and now I only can see 16, that means that 8 dreads are gone ..probably combined with one another ..and it's a mess, it really is ..I TRIED to rip them (separate them) and I can;t ..it  now looks like I have a freaking dread cake just hanging there with a lot of loose hairs ..so any advice? I'm FINALLY starting to love my dreads, the first 5 months have been terrible and annoying. and now that I can finally accept 'em ..the back is messed up. How can I seperate them? ..Take a look at some of them ..(PLEASE HELP)

i had the same problem on the back of my hair. I had to rip lots of huge sections and dreads.

I damaged them a bit because some were so combined that was nearly impossible not separating them.

Now i have to check my dreads and sections every single day at least 3 times a day [and separate if needed]

You can always separate them, it just seems impossible at times.

You might have to pick out the ball slowly, it will end up undreaded but it will dread again later. If you try to separate it you are just going to destroy the hairs hanging out of it. It could also neatly separate into multiple dreads once you get halfway through the ball, it just depends on if it formed separate dreads in the first place before knotting up in a ball.

Just be careful and try to feel around the thing. You can usually feel the distinct dreads in it and take care not to pick those out.

im about to make a separating vid today if i can get my cam to work (if not then pics of the process) for the separation of one of my uber fatties. you should be able to find areas to pull them apart with your fingers. work on em, feel em squeeze them, you will eventually find the dreads you are looking for within the congo. it toook me a week o fdebating and toying to find the two in the one im talking about. patience and relax :)

seperate when wet tip to root not root to tip

pull them apart ripping the connecting hairs if u cant get them apaert try these steps

  1. take a finger or knitting needle try to get it under a few connecting hairs and pul up and oit if not
  2. put olive oil on the connecting roots try tio rip if not try to pull out a few connecting hairs..if nlt
  3. as a last resort pull dreads away from eachother to put tension on the connecting hairs and exposte them (get help) now with surgical recision ise a razor or exacto and snip or slice through a very small ammount of hairs..repeat the above steps  if u get back to here snip a few more u want to rip or pull out most only snip or slice if theres no other hope and only a lil hair at a time.. slice straight between them be carefull not to slice into 1 or the other but instead smive straight down towards the scalp like a brain surgeon only a milimer or 2 at a time

Can you try to separate pencil size sections? Start at the root and work your way down to the end. It may be easier if you use an essential oil in an Apple Cider Vinegar rinse, but that's if you are washing and rinsing with Baking Soda and Apple Cider Vinegar.

How often are you trying to separate them? You should at lease separate them at lease every wash you do that leads to the question, how often are you washing?
