totally, i didn't see my first knot until 6.5 months, & then a few more months before anything else caught on to the idea ;) & I'm coming up on a year & there are some tiny stringy bits in between it all that still need to get a move on somewhere & a whole  chunk of bangs/front hair that aren't even close lol. it gives it some softness ;) i'm not worried about it, they know what to do!

like i said it took about 6 months before i saw lockng, and some parts like the sides didnt start locking untill around  1 year.

patience it will lock in time, depending on length, and time spent without a comb. i didnt see locking untill after 5-6 months so dont worry in time it will do as it as meant to do

Who cares? It looks pretty cool if part of your bangs are undreaded. I haven't combed in like...uhm... 1 year+. Could be 2. I don't really keep track.
Anyway some of the front isn't dreaded either. There's always going to be parts that aren't dreaded, if only because new hairs grow all the time.

Even if you only end up with 1 dread, does it matter? It looks cool, your saving time by not combing or putting crap in your hair that you don't need. Sounds like a win-win to me.

One word: patience! Don't have expectations, just hopes. You have thin straight hair, I've seen thin hair take 6 months before any progress was noticeable. Like baba said, at two weeks your ahead of the game if your hairs locking up! Don't give up on your locs, at least wait a couple days and revisit the topic of giving up. Don't want you tomake an impulsive decision and regret it. Good luck and dread on!

Well... 2 weeks isn't a long time at all.  Mature locks need about a full year to form.  at 2 weeks, you'd be lucky to have your hair in sections.  If they haven't all completely come untangled, you're ahead of the game.

Bangs tend to lock up later.  If you sleep on your sides, they will lock up faster than the back.  If you sleep on your back, that will lock up faster.  I'd venture to bet you sleep on your sides
