dreadlock methods and maintenance forums site products free dreads

well, through the second month, I mostly did not dig my dreadies too much.
They sort of did what they wanted and it was sort of freaky to me.
I bought these break-away rubber bands from dreadlock HQ and they are awesome.
i can use them and not worry because they weaken and pop off usually within a month and they are not as torturous as the rubber bands they offer with their dreadhead kit.
I am really so so glad i took the wax out....thank you, SE, you saved me from this ignorantly bad choice.
back combing, neglect and these rubber bands are what I am doing.
another product i really like is knottyboy locksteady tropical tightening gel.
it is natural, and it helps the hold for days and is water soluble.
it is the STUFF, as far as I am concerned.

So it is getting better, slowly.

I was washing a lot through the #2 month with baking soda and water. now i have relaxed that. I mean I feel they are 70% established. The knots are not going to fall out and they are getting harder and more solid.

I have to say that even though i did not like my dreadies in month 2 it was only like when i would look at them.
I really liked sleeping with them, knowing they were getting more matted:)
I really liked the way they felt in my hands and such.
so this carried me through seeing how funky they were for a time.....lol

I feel more firm about them and I look forward to their maturity.

I have been locked for over 15 years and still going strong.. you might not know this but hair is a bone of contention for us sistas because our hair have be has always been the source of conflict within our culture do to the racism and cultural misconception about the texture of our hair since the days of slavery even to present day.. this might be a mindset for many of you to overstand but for a wombman of color in my case a Moorish American or what one might describe as afro american to release the bondage of straight hair and embrace my own texture free of perms, straightening combs or weave of other peoples hair is liberating in itself. I dont carry the fear of someone hiring me though that stigma still remain and not just among Caucasians but even among my own people..many people still believe that my hair is due to my lack of grooming even though I am well groomed., but that is their problem not mine. I have about three feet of hair and I love it..I have gone through many styles and dyed my locs, and bejeweled them but all in all my crown and glory flows and I will let it flow as long as it will grow and hold my head up high..
My locs are like roots of a plant from the inside out mine are more like vines.. I do loc care maintainance which is washing them and maybe conditioning with all natural ingredients..if you are interested about this and live in the Philly area hit me up..connect with me through here and it will go to my hotmail address..
March 18 I will be 51 and I am still growing strong..
Peace Out and within !!!
