this is the 3rd time i have got alopecia in the back of me noggin! nice smooth bald spot on my head. luckily my 5 year old dreadlocks are long enough to cover the damage up. anyone have a clue why this keeps happening to me? i sleep with nothing on my head at night, and i can feel pulling and uncomfyness in the back as i sleep. the dreadlocks laying under my back seem to cause the pulling! what can i wear to sleep becuz i feel this is the problem! has anyone else had this problemo?? have skinny dreads about half the size of thy pencil untensil.

Thanks soaring eagle for all your contribution and knowledge. Your right about twisting I've had dreads thin out in the past for overtwisting,I was able to save most. Nowadays I don't twist until a have a good amount of thick growth. My dreads are very tiny so twisting every few months is a must to keep its small shape if I don't the dreads will be two times thicker than I began with.... I love your theory bit ever since my first alopecia I almost rarely even touch the back of me noggin .. So I'm guessing I wasn't washing andtakig care of them enough of my sleeping methods are bogous

stop retwisting  retwisting causes it

throw the dreasds up out of the wat=y not under your back

i flip mine up over the headboard or off to tghe side  hanf[ging to the floor

butthe mist important thinbg uis never retwist!

retwisting is what causes it

you force the dread roots to be too tight yiou are causing it

dread roots will naturaly tightento where thety should tighten to and no further

twisting pulls at the scalp  pulling hau[pir in fronm a wide arwa  intio a thin dread thinning the roots pulling the hair away  from the scalp causing that scalpy look

that is how traction alopecia starts

read and watch the vid

my friend has alopecia areata and he was diagnesed celiac Disease, when he stoped to eat wheat his hair start to grow... of course we had find that celiac can couse alopecia areata on google, doctors didn't have clue what is with him.and he insisted on that tests, so they come out positiv.

I was reading lot about alopecia becouse of his search. problems with thyroid can couse spots of alopecia too.
