I'm currently around like month 3 in letting my hair grow out. So since I don't comb it anymore, I'm not quite sure how long it actually is now. Encouraging enough, I'm starting to feel 2 or 3 long twisties separating from the rest of the fro. The thing is, when I sleep I turn a lot. So the back of my head and the sides are all mushed down, while the top is sticking out because I guess I never lay on the top.. That'd be pretty weird. Anyways it's not like I go to school or work right now,…

Gosh, a year later I update my blog. Hahaha!! So I waited a whole year to restart my dread journey. Who knows why. It just wasn't time. Well, I've not combed my hair for a little over a month now. It's been so liberating. I have always hated fixing my hair and brushing my hair, so this organic method is fitting me like a glove. My hair is weird. For nearly the first month, it looked like someone would sneak into my room at night and brush my…
hmm..nearly 16 months neglect. Reflection.
Namaste! Reading my first few blog posts..It’s amazing how much i have changed and grown since then. My locks are doing great, i am feeling fanfuckingtastic! Not to brag or boast but locks really do effect life for the better! It has made it much easier to determine who’s real and who’s not, not to say it was difficult before, it’s just instantaneous you could say... the real people come to me now; with open conversations it’s something that was a rarity before dreads. And i love it. One…

Hello people! I'm in the fourth month of my journey, i have curly hair, and the lenght of my hair is crazy [varying from 4 inches to 8 inches], wash it every 2 days with bs/acv, and i'm not messing with my hair...
I have only few loops popping since the last 15 days, on the back and on the top of my head [that look a lot like "pig tails", but i find them cute], and the rest of my hair are just these firm sections [far from hard, or knotted/looped, but even the strongest water…

Strait and arrow
So I am starting my first ever set of dreads :) So far I am LOVING IT. I had a few twist and rips at the nape of my neck but took them out because I wanted it to be an even steven playing field all across my head.
So anyways, I have watched a ton of videos on youtube about other's dreadlock journeys but not many have strait hair like I…

seriously so giddy i really was considering climbing the roof to be able to shout from it.
I HAVE A LOOP! I HAVE A KNOT! I HAVE A REAL BABY DREAD!
It was born 3 days ago when the tips of that section were stuck together but the body seemed like two distinctly different pieces. I had counted my…

Last night i went through my head in the dark by touch & separated for my first time (6.5 months & my first time separating!!!) I counted about 207 baby dreadies (give or take, it was dark & hard to keep count & sort through so much hair! I have A LOT). I was worried about variation in sizes on them, I didn't mind them not being the same but i feared huge differences & wanted to keep them in a close range without caring about being exact. Well forget that.
As I…

Not really anything new to report. My sections are pretty defined, they are getting kinda wavy & i know they are knotting slightly but I don't have any loops or knots that a camera captures so nothing to show off & brag about yet. Soon. I love my hair. It's gotten frizzy & poofy & I really feel like it's a lions mane some days. The wavy underbits are lovely.
I'm having fun wrapping different sections adding some color & charms here & there. At the top of the…

I guess I'd better write something, rather than just lurking around!
Here's my natural/neglect experience so far - pictures are already in my albums, and I'll look at how to post them here for future entries. I stopped brushing in the second week of July, and have been washing every 3 days with BS and using ACV with EO or tea rinses. I had been no-poo for maybe 6 months already, so my hair was pretty healthy, shiny and tangle-free to start with...
Progress has been stop and…

I have a neglected baby!
A neglected baby, that sounds terrible! But it is wonderful and exciting and unexpected at the same time. Here it is:
I had given up on this hair ever dreading. I T&R'd several times and every time it came undone. I tried backcombing with the same result. I put a rubber band around it in the hope that…

Baby Steps
On July 6, 2012 I threw away my brush. I have grown very fond of the look of natural, freeform dreads and I have decided to take the plunge. On my third day of no brushing, no conditioner, and the least amount of shampoo possible, I'm feeling some knots form in my hair. It's nothing seious yet, but my hair doesn't have the smooth, silky feeling it usually does. For once, I'm excited about this!
Yesterday, I was running some errands and decided that I would pick up…

I've always wanted dreads. Five days ago, I realized I was waiting for permission (from whom, I have no idea). Well, I gave myself permission and proceeded to spend 3 hours twisting n ripping my hair. I ended up with only 25 dreads. The following day, I realized I had made them too big, so I spent another 6 hours undoing and seperating them. And then the next day, I realized I had crossed alot of hairs and most were much larger than an inch at the base. *sigh* So after reading the many blogs…

Truthfully I haven't brushed my hair in several months, maybe even a year...but I heavily used conditioner & if my hair wasn't in a ponytail it was being played with. Twisting strands, running my fingers through it, tucking it behind my ear, constant touching & messing with it. That kept it "brushed" looking enough for me. It's been difficult to stop messing with my hair, I've done it unconsciously for so long. I do feel I've stopped for the most part, every once in a while I catch…

It's been two weeks since I stopped combing.
I have 11 TnR dreads on top of my head, neglecting the rest. Does it look like anything's happening yet?

Day 5
My hair is starting to look pretty messy. :) It also looks like I don't wash it, which I do! I washed it two days ago and am about to wash it again (with bs). I wish my skin was less oily. :\
