Dreadlocks show strength, and as mine grow, my psyche becomes less penetrable by negativity. Only strong winds can break an old tree, as it's roots mature. When I see someone with dreadlocks, I see a part of myself. Someone who is either transitioning into a new life, or a strong spirit. Not trying to get all preachy here, but a lot has changed in me since starting my dreads 8 months ago. I've opened up doors that were never opened. I can't imagine I'm the only one.
Wow. Things are looking pretty crazy! TONS of bumps and twists and knots -- way cool.
Method: natural/neglect. Never did anything else except separate (and do that much less often now that the dreads are taking form.) Wash with soap daily, and do a BS/ACV rinse about once a week. Hair is sooooo soft. I love it!
Started with waist-length hair. It's now just half-way down my back.
Question: What comes next? Do the dreads get thicker? Do the crazy turny-turns in my…Continue
Today we've been married six months. We started our dread journey a week after our wedding since both of us were sick of our long hair knotting, go figure. The past six months have been pure wedded bliss with lots of interesting lessons thrown in. We're on the journey of life and dreadlocks together, which is pretty interesting in itself. Having "started" to grow dreadlocks has really been an eye opener. The journey can make things fall into place believe it or not. It shows the true colors…Continue

Namaste! Reading my first few blog posts..It’s amazing how much i have changed and grown since then. My locks are doing great, i am feeling fanfuckingtastic! Not to brag or boast but locks really do effect life for the better! It has made it much easier to determine who’s real and who’s not, not to say it was difficult before, it’s just instantaneous you could say... the real people come to me now; with open conversations it’s something that was a rarity before dreads. And i love it. One…Continue

and today i had to rip several dreads, including the ones of my fringe, and some of the sides, because there were hairs from one dread inside the other... now i'm with a lot of frizz, but the dreads are not harmed [the sections still together, and still tightening well]...
i don't care too much about the…Continue

Most of my dreads are quite stiff, and a couple of them have hard spots. I assumed the worst: WAX. So I combed out one of the thin-ish, only half-way dreaded ones out, expecting to see the horrors of waxy remains...but no. There was literally nothing there. So I dunno why they're stiff or anything. Anyway, I decided to comb a couple more out, mostly the ones in the front/middle, because...the ones in the middle are basically forced into sections that don't feel right, and I get the feeling…Continue
