Hi Everyone! I made a post about my dreadlocks (crochet) last year. And I did brush them out, which I think was the right thing to do. I have now been during the Neglect Method for 3 months and I feel great. This is truly the BEST way to go, no doubt about it. If you are on a spiritual journey to find yourself, throw your brush away, honestly. You will find yourself. It is truly an amazing feeling. I feel alive finally. This is what I've needed, all these years. The…

Been 10 months having locs going 11. Im feeling good, my dreads are maturing surely but slowly. I've decided to take out the from 2 rows from my hair line, so I can discretely have dreadlocks.
Before anyone bashs on me for using wax I KNOW! and truly when I had my dreads first put in, I told my guy not to use wax but since he runs a salon, im guessing to make the "after" pictures look better he didn't listen to me and told me I should wax one. We did wax one and since I loved the…

Every knot was an intention, a manifestation, a prayer.
They carry my hopes, dreams, wishes, and plans;i will live closer to the Earth.
i will renew my yoga practice.

i will strive to treat myself with loving kindness.
i will live outside the…

I had a realization today. Just a few minutes ago actually. I back combed 3 dreads myself a few weeks before letting the rest go naturally. Since then I have done no backcombing at all (besides a little tightening of already existing knots at the roots of 2 spots in my hair I wanted to wrap). Today a friend and I did a few more wrappings in our hair. I realized (after noticing how much faster hers was dreading than mine) that my hair, for whatever reasons, may take longer to officially dread…

Happy dreads
I don't think I have ever posted a blog post in there but I thought I would give a written update to tell some of my story. I started out RnT then decided to go to neglect after a few weeks of attempting to crochet them for neatness. Now just past 1 year of going all natural I am loving my dreads. I worried about the RnT stuff coming out and then later I worried because nearly all of it fell out of some locks. I had long ends at the time and it worried me, some of them today are still long…

So recently I went on a vacation to Puerto Rico and it was stressful at some points. My family isn't the most calming people to be around. Anyways we rode ATV's in the rainforest and it was absolutely beautiful. I know for sure that I want to live on the mountains and I'm honestly thinking about living some where like Puerto Rico because the rainforest is on the mountains and it's just amazing the people are jet typical islanders and there's so much life and community that it seems as though…

Since I began my dread journey about one year ago, I have experienced a major shift in my consciousness and witnessed many amazing changes in my reality because of this shift in thought. Not all of these changes can be attributed to my dreadlocks, but one significant change has a direct correlation to them, which is the categorization of people based on religious belief, skin tone, ethnicity, working class, and lastly and most relevant to my interests, style (particularly hair…

Random Blabbberings- 1 month today!
Here I am reached the end of my first month! So happy, I'm not gonna lie the first few weeks we're really tough, my insecurities we're trying to eat away at me. I truly didnt realise how much of my identity I found in my image, or should I say the image I constructed. I am on the road to finding my true self again. Away from the fads, fashions and concepts of my culture. This is soooo freeing to me.
I'm begining to not be afraid to show me The Real me to the world.
Its so…

Self Reliance and a tad of Compost.
I have never written a blog or anything like one before, so here it goes :D
The day was May 15, it had just stopped raining at Lazerfest, a rock concert in iowa, the crowd was reasonable and the mosh pits filled with mud, tons of it.. by the time i decided that i have had enough head smashing for the evening i was coated, caked, encrusted- including half my head. The mud matted my hair in ruff forms of dreadlocks here and there.…

my dreadful journey
i wld like to share my dread journey.
i have tried everything, almost and am here to say that none of the methods or products were good for my dreads.
a friend backcombed my hair. not having any experience with this she back combed way too tight (from about 14" to 4") so what looked like dreads did not match the regrowth of that particular dread. so when the hair grew i had a fat dread on skinny regrowth. more on dealing with the breakages later by crotchet method =====…

After talking about it for some time, today I decided to hit the reset button on my dread journey and start over on most of them. "But they look so good" they say " But you have come so far" they say. well I agree my dreads have really progressed well in the last few months, but the funny thing is only half of them are actually TNR (Twist and Rip) the rest are all 100% neglect. The Neglect dreads are coming close to 8 months old now. Those are the ones you see with all the loops, twists and…

The beginning of my journey, and my inspiration
Three years ago, a good friend of mine started to dread his hair. Back then, I was ignorant and I didn't know what dreading was about. I asked him, and he explained to me that he wanted to be his natural self. He was a lot more philosophical about it, but that's the gist. We spent a year after that inseparable, and his thoughts on dreads spoke to me. I spent some time researching it, and only found information about wax and the like. I wasn't a fan of the idea of smearing beeswax in my hair,…

Dreads should be wild and free
Im of the opinion that dreadlox should be natural-the state has shaved my head twice and each set ive grown back has been different. Dreads werent meant to be trendy-this is just my opinion-I know that lots of people are getting them these days cuz they look cool--- Dreads are more than just a hairstyle to me, I know this sounds corny, but its how I feel...Dreads should be natty, wild, and free--not uniform, overnight, and perfect. In this sense they represent, and are a part of me. I…

A dread love story
Getting dreadlocks has never been a dream of mine, as a matter of fact, two days before I t&r'd them I didn't even know I wanted them. It all started on a Wednesday evening in November when I saw that one of my daughters had added a new friend on Facebook. I didn't know the girl so I checked her profile (nosy mom, I know) and she had dreadlocks. I can't really say that I liked or disliked her dreads, I just noticed them.
The next day I was at home and for some reason I thought…

Dreaducation: learning the hard way.
Hello everyone! My name's Caroline and i've had dreads for a little over four months, and am currently in the process of combing them out. My current situation has invaded my mind for the past week and i decided that i really wanted to write it all down, so i can see my thoughts, and i figured i might as well share it with anyone that cares. To anyone considering dreadlock EXTENSIONS; this is for you.
I have been wanting dreads since my senior year of high school (2008). when i would…

Spare a thought
I don't cry much if ever, but I burst out in tears today at work when my employment broker came to drop off my payslip. He's been off work for more than a month so I knew something bad must've been going on. His wife has been in and out of ICU for about a month now. She has bleeding on the brain and the doctors have no idea why or how to fix it. They have a small boy about the same age as mine.
Please spare a thought for them today.
Thanks all of ya.

Buzz Cut to Ragamuffin
Been seeing a lot people post about growing dreads from short hair and whether or not it's a good route to take. The truth is, is that that's how dreads grow naturally. Cavemen were not rocking bob's and your hair will look fine as it grows into locks. I shaved my head to start fresh and took my vow. Wanted to start fresh. Quit drinking, smoking cigarettes, Ital diet (medical reasons as well, Fibromyalgia), and all drug's (was a Heroin addict, clean for 3 years). So 10 months later all the…
