I'm so glad that I decided to do this and I really cant wait to have dreads that reach my waist.. I have totally accepted myself for who I really am and I am learning so much about myself and those around me and I really have a more open heart and mind theses…

VEGGO or NOT
okay, soooo,
I've had an interesting night!
we have a vegetarian living @ our place for the last day, and it's GOOD, but interesting, he's an interesting person, definitely a wealth of knowledge, to me being a meat eater, but also a VERY VERY nice guy, but also, he's helping my partner see the benefits too I guess, but i never thought I would feel so aligned with someone, should I try being vegetarian for a while? he seems to think it really clears the mind and makes you notice…

Uninformed decision
First and foremost, I waxed my dreads and will never do so again.
It was quite a few years ago now that I decided to have dreads and I am unashamed to admit I made mistakes in starting the dreading process. I decided to used wax to form gunked together assumed to be dreadlocks. Although I was and am a relatively intelligent, mature type of person I still made an uninformed, in my opinion, WRONG decision.
The dreads I thought I had were in fact not dreads at all, but candles of…

The start
Well this is the start of my dread journey, its been 5 days since it began and i am impressed at how the back of my head is knotting at the roots. I have an odd head of hair, the back is of fine - medium thickness but the front is just too damn fine and seems to be loose as a goose. I'm sure perseverance is the key! time will tell..
I have made a shampoo from baking soda, sea salt, a couple of drops of sandal wood and tea tree essential oils. It smells earthy i love it.…

Faith in my Locs
So, the best way to promote the growth of your locs, I hear, is to have faith in them. With hope and positive energy they will come into their own and flourish! But there are a few people I have met in my travels, who have truly given me a new hope for my dreads, because sometime we get discouraged and somnetimes, I want to give up. I believe by having that energy though, you may be potentially harming them. On most days, I peer upon my knotty head and have hope and happiness about…

Hey dreadies.
It's been awhile since I was here.
It's been a little over a year - mine are still changing, still growing and still suprising me.
I still have loose hairs, I still have whispy ends, some are waaay fatter than others, and the ones on the bottom and back have dreaded up way tighter than the others. You'll notice, I have no beads. they look super fat in the middle. When I started this set I originally did half backcombing, half TnR.…

Wax Removal
So my son has had dreads for a little over three months. I have been using Beeswax the entire time until, thank the creator, I found this site. I decided that I am going to blog my wax removal processes since this seems to be such a hot topic. I have some ideas of my own that I am going to try first.
I am about to begin my first method: a hot flat iron and newspaper. I haven't seen or heard of this being done before I just thought about it and it seems reasonable. Plus, I have…

dandruff/white and green build up in my dreadlocks
Hey guys! firstly i am so happy i came across this site! looks like gr8 information and more importantly the truth.
Ok well I have been doing the neglect method journey for a year now. For the first 6 months i didn't wash (because tons of people i know people never washed and have awesome and very clean looking locks), but i started to get really bad dandruff problems. After the 6 months i tried out the dreadhq shampoo, hoping that would get my locks nice and clean but that just made…

the future
who knows what the future holds. when i first started dreading, i was unaware of the gravity at which my past mistakes and failures would come barreling back into my life to test me. Having relived a previous mistake that i have to deal with for the rest of my life for the last couple months, and to which i am still getting over right now, i find myself looking for a way to get away from it so that it no longer is an option. it is really easy for me to hate myself for my mistakes the first…

Wow, 10 months!!
Time flies! It's been a while since I've updated as baby boy is keeping me very busy! He's 11 months old now and started walking at 10 months. I can't for the life of me remember his name, but I was watching a comedian who said that when you have a baby you basically spend your time saving them from certain death every other minute. Lol, truer words were never spoken..
Anyway, on to the baby dreadies! I'm still a very happy camper, love them. They're actually becoming recognizable as…

Long Hair Blues
I've been gone for a few days and there are some major changes to meh hair... I first tried not combing, how SE recommended. Then I did a few TNR dreads and finally I had to have my boyfriend brush out my hair that wasn't TNR so now all I have is 5 little babies that I wrapped some hemp to keep from getting lost in my hair. The natural way is not for me, I have lots and lots of thin hairs that are very long and clingy. I had one HUGE beaver tail going on in the back it was bad. I couldn't…
