I am reaching out to my brothers and sisters for wisdom...
In my life, I am controlled by three things: parents, money, and college. These three things are completely interrelated.
First off, a teeny bit of background info: I am in my second year of college, and I have two and a half years left to "complete" in my program. I turn 20 in two weeks, and since before I applied to college in the first place, I've been having feelings of "enough already! This is not living, not for me. I am not being true to myself." So far, I've…

I hope that everyone is feeling positive and joyful after the holiday hustle and bustle! This time of the year can bring up a lot of darkness. The winter, to me, is a very contemplative time. The rain slows things down and keeps one mesmerized by thoughts of would haves, should haves, and could haves.
What I have found to be helpful is to find a creative outlet to express your feelings. Grab a paintbrush, some paint and a canvas and just go for it. Forget about trying to be the next…

A message from the Moon
A message from the Moon
I am proud to be the carrier of this information. On the night of the Lunar Eclipse Dec. 20 - 21 I bore witness to one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. I would like to share what I saw with you guys.
As the world blocked the moon's gaze of the sun it turned red from the fire that bent around the earth's edges. The stars came out to pay homeage to the beautiful sight. And we all joined in the splender that is Nature.
Slowly the…

How I Dread
I feel like this will get a bunch of negative feedback, but I wanna speak my mind.
I've used the perm method to get dreads every time, and this is the practice I recommended for people who don't want to do it the natural way. I'm not Rastafarian, just a crazy white girl in BFE, Iowa.
Hmm. The perming went like this:
Backcoming into sections. (Sideshow bob here)
Perming the sections.
Waxing.
The sideshow bob thing only lasts…

Dread Doubt
I guess it is bound to happen to the best of us at the worst of times.
I'm beginning to seriously question my dreads.
I get negative feedback on them constantly now ... i don't care who you are, eventually that shit starts to wear you down. -
and since they have recently been getting extremely unruly i'm starting to look at them differently too.
loose hair is sprouting from my scalp, and working out of my dreads more every day. my dreads are kongoing faster than i…

beanies good or bad??
i heard that dread beanies or tams acually help your dreads knot up. but wouldnt it slow down the process, because its freezing your hair in place? hair needs to move around to knot doesnt it??

Month 4
I am now half way through my 4th month of dreading. I've seen more progress in my dreads over the past 3 weeks than the whole of the 4 months.
I've started noticing some matting as well as knots and it's got me really excited.
I'll post some pics when I can get some, or just upload to YouTube.
I've got some weird ass congos going, mainly because I can't be bothered to separate. One of the main reasons I started was so I didn't have to do…

clean dreads
I've been looking through the forum and the majority say to use baking soda and acv. Do you guys just rinse with it or use it like shampoo and scrub your scalp? Is there a product i can buy that anyone recommends? I love shampoo and the way it makes my hair smell lol. Do scented products all leave residue? I have 6 dreads on the bottom layer of my hair and I've been using regular shampoo since my whole head isnt dreaded and it seems to be ok for now. but im sure when they get thick and lock…

R.I.P. Super Dog
RI
My dog, Super, died this morning. He was old.. I'd had him for almost 11 years, and he was roughly 4 when i rescued him.
He was the best soul i've ever been around, and the best dog i've ever seen.
Extremely compassionate and kind - he was a healer who soothed every wound life puts on the heart. and he could smell sickness - years ago, he had been obsessed with sniffing a certain area on my dads chest - so my dad went to the doctor and was diagnosed with skin cancer…
