Washing with Laundry Detergent
ive seen several people on here post about dewaxing. and i've seen them say that laundry detergent helps free them of wax. which leads me to ask this...
random question... is laundry detergent safe for african american hair? hmmmm
and if so how much is enough, how much is too much?

Replacing My Blogger
So...I figured I really love this site and am going to replace my blogger. I babble quite often, usually about nothing, really....just to see myself type, I suppose.
Along with starting dreads, I've also begun a weight loss journey. I'm teaching myself extreme patience in one big life change. I've…

Greetings and Salutations Earthlings, As i embark catharsis upon a plethora of overzealous, self-absorbed, rudimentary beings, I levitate and ponder...
Blessed with divine dexterity, I wonder.... it seems as if my numerator is greater than my denominator I feel improper, distributive properties, wooly crown, tattooed skin, precious copper, whats the problem?
I attempt to…

Post 1
I just did the bs wash for the first time a few minutes ago. I added lime and grapefruit essential oils ( I had them on hand and it seems they have pretty good properties...antiseptic/disinfectant, etc)...I smell like a margarita *shrug*.
I am so thankful to have found this site. What I thought I should do and what other sites were saying to do were in conflict. **YAY** for dreadlocks site!!
I'll get some photos up soon....and post progress reports :D

Remove interlocked dreads
I think I might want to remove my dreads. They have been interlocked so I'm not sure how I will do this. Should I just hang in there and let my hair grow out more and just stop locking it???

Dreadlocks In The Matrix
I walk freely
I stand with my head held high
My dreadlocks blow in the breeze
I am as wild as wild can be
I here someone shouting
"Hey why don't you buy a comb"
I smile and know the truth
The truth that this crazy person
Took the time
To yell at me
Because I stood amongst the borg
That I pierced the veil
That I see the matrix for what it is
And for it will…

Since when i was a teen i always thought that dreadlocks are cute n easy to handle cos my elder sister had them . The reason why i didn't start them before was every one told me that i didn't have enough hair for them that it requires thick n much hair and my sister always told me that i will look weired if i ever start them. I got scared but i promised my self that one day am gonna twist my hair n that came last year when i was travelling to Europe from Africa . I knew that it was pretty…

Mini dreads
So I had to cut this huge dread in half and it cut half the length off of both of them. They're smack dab in the middle of the back of my head and it looks retarded as hell now. Any stories like that that you guys have to make me feel better about my two mini dreads? :/

its kinda funny to me when ppl say they don't have the patience to go natural when growing dreads cause very often it takes no patience at all
recently many freinds started growing natural dreads, and nearly all of them were amazed by how fast the hair dreaded naturaly, some found dreads by day 4, others by day 7 and a few by day 14
and yea i said day..not week..not month
every 1 of them was excited every day by the changes they saw.. it wasnt any agonizing…

Ok well I have this dandruff ever since I´ve had dreads, and before them too, but without the dreads simply washing my hair would make it go away. Since shampoo and dreads are not friends I use the Baking soda teatree oil mix as recomended by most.
My dandruff is going crazy though, its everywhere and its kinda gross, I don´t want it to be bondin into my dreads because id think thats just nasty and not very clean.
I´m happy for any advice and will try…

when it comes to dreads and whats concidered neat and tidy theres many schools of thought , usualy this just means a nice style clean healthy no congos the thickness of your leg
just a nice look, however locticians and dread salonbs push this idea on you that to be neat and tidy you need to spend thousands on maintenance and constant upkeep
so lets look at a lil bit of these lies they tell you
lie loose hairs look messy
fact dreads are loose hairs alowed…

Why do people try to mis inform!
Yesterday i was at a family party where a women happened to be who has dreads. they were pretty long and completely straight, no bumps or loops or even almost no lose hair. Later on the day of course the hair became the subject of a conversation between some guests. So I heard some people ask her if that was hard to maintain and stuff like that, i heard her say yes and it costs a lot, so i looked at her with a face like uh?? She probably noticed that and started talking to me asking where i…

Helllooooo fellow dreadies :) well i have some news, yesterday I, out of nowhere, decided to start twistNripping my hair. It has turned out BEAUTIFUL! Ive only done the sides and top front (near my bangs). I started to do the back but the first two I did in the back I had to take out because they were pulling hairs from each other and any pre-dread I would have made after that was bound to be very painful and uneven, so I took those two out. Today I plan on moving around some mirrors so I…
