After a month I just cut my hair at the spur of the moment.
Didn't have too much of a reason to cut them besides my job and people looking at me like I'm strange, I guess I just don't live in a place where I can have(developing) dreads...next to all this, I'm a shitty care taker anyway so...I don't feel I've lost anything, anyway, they'll grow back and Ill try again.
In the mean time I need a girlfriend -____-
So.. I've wanted dreads for 2 and a half years. I finally decided to do it after I graduated highschool. The only websites I had found were dreadheadhq and knottyboys, or websites only suggesting the "neglect" method. Which was not for me. So I bought a kit from dreadheadhq and I recieved it today.
First of all I would like to state…Continue
i was wondering if anyone knew what type of shorts these were or where i could buy a pair. thanks :D
Hey! I'm kinda new to this whole dread thing. I've been interested in dreads for a long time but a few days ago I had a really strong urge to get dreads. So I googled and youtubed about people who had dreads and about how they got their dreads…
Some people had extension, which I think defeats the whole purpose. I really dislike extension but that's just my opinion. Other's used backcombing and a crochet hook (which is the first thing I tried cos I thought it'd be…Continue

I'm new to the site. I've only had my dreads for about 3 weeks. I was told today that retwisting isn't the greatest thing to do so i'm going to let it happen naturally. So my question is do i need to sleep with something over my dreads even if i'm forming them naturally?
I removed rubber bands today and feel more liberated. My dreadies are going to be two months in a few days think I am going to celebrate and take them out for a day at the beach :).. My hair is a total mess but, its part of being a dread head. I love em more and more as the days progress (ok that is not the whole truth) some days, I want to just take em out because they are so unmanagable but, I let…Continue
So it's day 10 of no brushing and no washing, Complete neglect of my hair and I've gotten no where.
My hair is just so straight, So flat and so thin it's just not knotting.
I'd normally be pretty happy about this because I hated brushing out knots lol
Any insight on how to get my hair knotty? Do's and don'ts?
Sure it's got a few knots, But they're just straggly loose knots that don't look like they will be doing much.
It looks good in a hair wrap but not what I want…
Okay, so I just finished my dreads yesterday I started them on the 20th...ummmm I think they look pretty good for being so young! lol. However, I used the twist & rip method and my roots are really loose, I'm not worried about them (they should tighten up, right?) but how bad do they need to be before you start worrying about it? If anyone can help it'd be much appreciated. I REALLY love not having to brush my hair anymore, I've hated it ever since I was a kid, but I've always loved…Continue
People I know call me 'extreme' and classify me an extremist for going full vegan instead of vegeterian, ovo-, pesci-, whatever. If you understand and internalize the rationale behind going vegeterian, why half-step and still munch on fish, eggs, milk, etc?? That doesn't make sense to me. Maybe all or nothing at all is extreme, but that means slave-owners would have been rational in keeping slaves "only for dangerous jobs", etc....other than the…Continue
so awhile back i wrote a blog about a distant relative named terrence macsweeny or mcsweenie or macsweenie (i think is actually right)
for those who didnt read that blog post ill recap it quickly here terrence was i believe a great great uncle or 3rd cousin 4th removed or whatever im not sure how it all works out
but he was like the mayor of cork in ireland around the 1920s he wrote the book on freedom called principles of freedom that inspired ghandi and mau tze tung and…Continue
I know I must not be the only one who's hair gets stared at everywhere I go, but it sure feels like it. HAHA. Most days I just ignore the fact the everyone in the room is staring at my hair. It's funny how the minute I glance at them they quickly look away, like they are trying to hide the fact that they were just staring at me for what seems like hours. It's rare when someone says "hey I like your hair" or "wow your dreads are cool" or "you look good with dreads". So this is my question, I…Continue
I need itch relief. my hair is knotting beautifully and I couldn't be more satisfied but the with summer coming and having to sit all day in a hot school, my scalp is on fire. Remedies?
After a year and 9 months of growing out my hair I finally got dreadlocks (the soul purpose of growing out my hair). Went from straight buzz cut to about 12in of hair and now to dreadlocks. I honestly didn't think my hair would good for dreads and was getting kind of worried prior to getting them but a pat on the back for my hair, its holding up very good. The guy used the back combing method, crochetted the loose hairs, the whole process took around 12 hours - _ -. I have read all about wax…Continue
So after reading around a bit, and just pondering on how my hair works, I decided it would probably be better for me to, instead of going the neglect route, to tnr my hair. My hair is really crazy and bi-polar, and it varies from matting in the back within a few hours, to staying totally knot free for days at a time, so my hair may turn into one giant dread if I just let it go, or stay in it's naturally wavy/curly state for weeks...
Started on the tnr-ing earlier, have about a quarter…Continue
It seems my hair was listening to me when I said I didn't want blunted tips. And it decided to teach me a lesson.
A quarter of my dreads have blunted themselves at the tip. All of my fatties and a good batch of skinnies. Some of them have just folded themselves right in half. Still more are very thick or paddle-y with skinny little rat tails hanging off of them.
And I love it. It's ridiculous. I have found the beauty in the blunted tips.
I promised myself that once I…Continue
Well, my mom gets on me about the loops in my dreads as of recently. Honestly, I love the loops. I wear wooden beads in them when I want a little more of a fun feel to my babies and the excess in which I've been wearing them have added character. I don't want tame dreads that all look the same. I wash them and separate them...that's probably the extent of work I do on my hair. Gah, I'm such a happy camper though.
On another note, I've been quite careful about who I let touch my dreads…Continue
