Ongka's Big Moka
A Moka is almost like a festival. Pigs, presents and food are given from the Big-Men hosting it to other Big-Men and villagers. To give more gifts than any other Big-Man would gain him the most status. Of course in almost any society, being generous is not always a charitable practice. The Big-Man hosting the party expects not only to gain status and respect, but also to some day be repaid. After all, it can take years…

here is a photo of my progress so far. no combing,
I had washed it twice, but no comb.
although I don't notice any "progress" comparing my hair along side others who have done the same it looks to be about
were it should be. So I guess it's doing it's thing normaly.

This past week ive been telling my friends i was getting dreads and most of the reactions are something like this "Oh my god. Dreads are nasty and dirty."
Yesterday when i asked my mom if i could get dreads she said "No!! Because they are dirty." Then she didnt even let me explain how they are actually clean and there are many ways of washing them, but she wouldnt stop yelling no. My hair is probably about 2 steps away from dreads already, but parents just dont understand or listen to…Continue
i found that the forced sectioning of my scalp was just too much discomfort for me to handle. after literally ripping a few dreads in half from the base up to free up my natural part i spent a week combing them out. not im a week into letting them do their thing. my hair feels broken and maimed after being so used to dreads but i have faith that, in time, it will heal and be magnificent. i have a 4 year committment to dreadlocks. i was 9 months in and im counting that. as it is i have 179…Continue
I almost combed my hair this morning... lol.
It's funny how not doing something can be rather hard, well to rember you nolonger do that thing,
after so long of doing so that is. The funnier thing is that I was reminded by a Deadhead HQ comb in the container of combs. The only good use for it I have found is to comb out my beard. Works good for it to.
So as fate may have it my not yet existent dreads were saved.
I will post more photos later, but I don't wish to…Continue
Hi, My Friends Call me Jayden; And I hope we can be. I decided to try yet another method for dreads, All natural.
I have tried the " products" and just had to cut them off. Very sad, then I tried simply back combing, I at the time did not know that they would fall loose. a nightmare to try to keep them tight. and after a headache and another they went by by as well. Then I found this sight, and thought it would be great to try, well ... Nothing. After all the other methods were…Continue

Things my dreads have taught me thus far...everything will not always go as planned and thats ok,be patient it will pay off in the end, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, its not all about the final result rather it is the journey that counts...
I adore my dreads, and although they are still young the journey so far has been a good one. Today a girl from my class who was asking around if she should dread her hair responded to my advice by saying "Thanks, but i wont be…Continue
Hey guys! I've been on this site and dreading for a total of 51 days now, and I'm kinda nervous on the way my dreads are looking I love the outcome of my T&R + All natural, for the first 17-18 days I went all natural, then decided to T&R them, now I'm leaving them alone to do their own thing. I need to know though, what you guys think of them!
I want your honest…Continue
I work with children from the ages of 3 to 6 everyday.. and coming from the prospective of being an activist doing prisoners' rights and fighting the "system" of injustice etc.. working with children though can be a little draining sometimes yet one of the most beautiful and the most rewarding in my life thus far..
Children are the future is such a quaint sentement isn't... but we live in a society that has to debate over funding for schools, will put children in…Continue
