- Newly joining the dreadies but have admired the natural look for years. I love music, people, dancing, laughter and nature and experiencing what this life has to offer.

- Started with the "twist and rip" method November 21, 2010.
I've learned to put my trust in people on this site, afterall, they do have experience that I don't.
I wash with a homemade b/s, tea tree oil, rosemary and lavendar wash 2-3 times a week, use an ACV rinse if the hair is too dry, sometimes add beads. I have been using a heavily diluted salt water spray since about half way through my 2nd month, occasionally. I also sometimes sleep with a wool sweater over my pillow as it shrunk in my dryer and now it doesn't fit. :P
It is exciting to see the progression of my dread babies and until I found this site, I didn't think of recording it with pictures or helping it along with all the useful tips I've found here.
I am so happy with this site and it's members. :)
Observation of my hair approaching my 6th month: ...I have no worries and I love it all!
I joined this forum because I was searching online how to respond to "judgement of dreadlocks". I stumbled across soaringeagle's page and found it inspiring. I must say this site offers something for everyone and I am truly glad I found it. :) I'm not one for taking pictures of myself or anything, but I've decided (with some encouragement from SE) to do a dreadlock timeline for others to view if they would like. I'm thinking monthly should be good, or apparently whenever I feel the urge to share my progress hehehe. :)

So they have been called elitists. Some people who start with tnr or back combing as a starting method and then let nature take it's course...say that their dreads are natural. They believe since their's is "natural" maintenance that it is natural. This debate has been going on for a long time. It gets pretty heated sometimes a whole lot worse than what you read on your thread. Your thread did not start it. You probably gathered this, but I just wanted to kind of explain to you what was going on, and let you know it had nothing to do with you. I just don't want you to feel bad, especially over this silly debate.
There are wonderful, loving people on both sides of the debate. So please don't judge them on this experience. The term " Natural" is about the only thing that they don't agree on here.
