Profile Information

About Me
I'm a very eclectic individual with an open heart and open mind. I consider myself an activist and I'm very pro-save the earth-y kind of stuff. I would like to live a more natural and organic lifestyle. I'm the one who wants a garden and chickens in the yard while my kids run around in cloth diapers. I'm not a veg*n myself but I advocate it, and also just conscious-eating in general whether you're a veg*n or an omnivore. I'm also Pagan, Bi-sexually curious (I suppose), and a mommy-to-be. I'm avid about dance (I fire dance here and there) and art. I love crafting things from hemp jewelry to crocheted projects to candles. If I see something I like, I'll try and make something similar a lot of times. I sell some of the things I make, including dread accessories. I also love photography.

How long have you been dreading?
Off and on for a couple years. This new set was begun 1/21/2012.
Dreading methods, maintenance, and products used (if you currently have dreads)
I've tried twist and rip and I've tried backcombing. I've tried and retried dreads a bunch of times. This time (as of 1/21/2012) I'm starting new using backcombing doing my whole head (possibly leaving bangs) and then letting them go natural (just separating congoes here and there). I'm switching back to baking soda rinses, possibly with some Dr. Bronner's and I love using herbs to make rinses.

My Dread Journey

Posted on February 7, 2011 at 12:30pm 2 Comments

My dread journey I believe started a couple years ago when I decided I wanted to loc up my hair someday. I couldn't get enough. I researched and researched (started out on the Knotty Boy website), bought some things here and there, tried a few dreads using wax and backcombing but my mother made me take them out (both times I did them, each time doing one or two locs only), and started coming up with ideas for…

New Items :)

Posted on December 27, 2010 at 11:15am 0 Comments

I made 11 new pieces yesterday and got them all posted on my Artfire. 3 new wire dread coils/sleeves and 2 new dread beads made from clay; a pair of clay faun horns and a listing for custom clay deer antlers; three new bracelets done in a Turkish knot, two hemp and one yarn; and two soy wax candles. I also marked down some of my older products and I'm also doing made-to-order organic sugar scrubs!

Hi Storm. I used twist and rip for my dreads. I wish I hadn't. I think it really slowed down the process. They'll be two years old in April and theare just now staring to go nuts lol. If I were to do it again, it would be all natural. I really like your dread coils. They are beautiful:) God bless your journey!!

Try using like a silkier pillowcase instead of a cotton one if you haven't tried that yet. It's supposed to cause less friction on your head and you could also try pulling them back in a hairwrap before going to bed. I do that every once in a while. :D

Parting was super hard for me too! I had to have my boyfriend do the back of my head because I just couldn't get it myself lol But your dreads are looking great so far, I'm excited to see them once they're finished!

Thank you, I started off with backcombing and palm rolling for the first month or so, but it was useless so I switched to twist and rip :D
