Dr bronners tea tree oil soap??? is it good

I've been using the bar (the liquid soap left a weird film in my hair) and it's been doing the job fine.

Dread Accelerator? does it work at all?

too much sea salt can really damage your scalp... so as long as your ratios are correct, you should be fine. When I do it, I just use a pinch of salt in a normal sized spray bottle.

i wouldn't worry about the sides not knotting up... it wasn't until until 4 months that my sides did anything, then in the space of about a week i had four big fat dreads start on either side. they're now looking like they're gonna be my best ones

about me
I have had a long fascination and admiration for dreadlocks, and am so pleased to be experiencing their growth, first hand, on my head.

I'm a college student who doesn't know what I;m going to do with my degree. Quite honestly, i'd rather be traveling... but i don't have the money or the driver's license to do it. I am going to China this summer with my boyfriend as sort of a tag-along nanny system for my mom and brothers. Pretty excited about it, and if anyone on here has been to China, I would love to hear about your experiences.

I enjoy strumming guitars and reading books. I attached a link to my music myspace page... mostly older stuff, but i don't record much anymore.

Got a question? Ask me!
Peace.
how long have you been dreading?
since 3/13/10
dreading methods maintenances and products used (if you currently have dreads)
Twist and rip initially, then all but like 3 fell out and since then I've just been letting them do their thing.

frustration.

Having one of those "WHAT THE FUCK???" dread days....

I love my dreadies, and the back of my head is totally awesome but my god! It has been 2.5 months of absolutely zero action on the sides of my head. Nothing at all! Totally knot free.

I know... "patience, patience, patience." I've been known to have a problem with that :)

It's also annoying because after every wash, my whole head feels great, but the next day the roots are all oily again. I tried the thyme tea and it didn't do anything. (… Continue

That seems like a good routine... I'm about the same, I wash every 4 days or so.

When you try a new product or regimen, it can take a couple of weeks for your scalp to normalize and get results. How long did you stick with the baking soda wash?

Most of the time I just use an all-natural bar soap (from a local soapmaker... nothing chemical from the drugstore) and a couple times a month I'll do the baking soda wash to get rid of any residues.

For young dreads, Dawn dishsoap is supposed to be the best because it strips so much oil, but it really dries out your hair & scalp if you use it too much.

Hi Bird! How often are you washing? I used to have oily hair/scalp too, but I went through a month or so of only washing once a week to try and "train" my scalp to produce less oil. I'm settled now on twice a week... if I wash more than that, my scalp just produces more oil and I have to wash more often. Vicious cycle. :-)

I haven't even inquired into the stores yet, but I've been thinking of it... one of those things I haven't gotten around to. Glad you like the yarns, it's great when you see people/things as colors to be able to dye the fibers like they are in your head!
