When I started mine I did a combo, I use the comb to bunch the hair then split it. but then I re-did some and did just TnR and found it held just as well and was faster because I didn't have to go between backcombing and TnR .....but you should try it anyways...maybe it will work better for her

new growth takes care of itself id just t7r if thats what u want to do t7r is alot better then backcombif shes used alolt of products a clarifying shampoo like nutregenba or umm whats the other well 1 that says daily cklarifying will remove build up and get it dready spraying with a sea salt spray will help tooif in those 4-5 days it already seperates into nice sections use the natural sectyioning..if in 4-5 days its already tangling then let it for another week or 2 and see if shed rather not just let them dread naturally instead..have her join here toonew growth dreads itself but will be loose for months so dont pannic be patient

Welcome!!If you're gonna start someones dreads, you should really look around this site. Main things, no wax, no hooks, needles, or latches. Nothing just you hands I recommend twist and rip, it's what I did to start my babies :D
