This morning I did my first TNR, to mark the beginning of this journey. I'm feeling obsessive about the process today; it's the excitement of finally doing this after so, so long of yo-yoing about it. I'll calm down in a day or so, as I work myself into a routine that involves countless hours of studying and writing and remember how to function without deadlines for a minute.

Relaxation for the win.

I recently dropped my double minor--I love Philosophy, and may return to it when I go for my MA, but right now I am burned out on writing about it and deciphering these thinkers...I wasn't able to give my History major as much attention as I wanted, I missed genocide and war and stories of survival and overcoming. It sounds crazy, but my passions do run amuck in the darkest areas of humanity. Also, Civil War history suddenly fascinates me, as does Africa and Latin America. So yeah, Phil needs to be a hobby, because History and current events have my heart. :0)

I like Math but I am really, really bad at Math. I want to get it, I just never have, beyond the basics. If they taught it to me in an historical form (use facts and numbers of WWI and II -- Iguaranteeit would stick, because it's connected to something I could talk about all day.) Maybe I'll scout out math professors this summer and see if I can find one who could work with that?

Science I haven't touched since I was 16, Boy Scout activities with my kid aside...The SCI classes for our gen ed are seemingly easy enough (say all my friends who showed up for maybe a week of the semester and test days, but still got A's.)

I wanted to double major in English, and then the Phil major became available, and then I stressed. I barely attended my last two months of classes, still did all of the work, I just didn't want to go. I don't even feel bad about it, which just tells me I needed it--the break.

I just got my AA this past semester. My initial plan was to take a gen ed class alongside a major class and an elective... it worked really well for a while because it kept things flowing at a great pace but then I decided to change my major *face palm* and in the end I was only doing major req's w/my least favorite gen ed classes.

Anyhoo, I'm a Math/Art/English so I don't have the the same issue most people do with math (took bus calc and bus stats as my more recent math's and, even though I like math, I did NOT like those classes but still didn't have too much of an issue with them.) The areas that kill me are Science, Speech and History. I think they are interesting but when I am in a classroom environment my brain slips out for a coffee break. :P

My best bud is a history major and between her and my bf I get enough info to sort of make up for it.

I'mfinishedwith most of my "fun" classes. I have en eds to suffer through: MATH, the bane of my existence; Science, intro to art history, and a Philosophy class to kill the time. I am so bad at math. One class will be my fourth attempt. Two are required. UGH.

Haha! I totally feel ya. I've been suffering a sort of burned out feeling this past couple of semesters... I'm even finding it hard to think about transferring. I just want it to all be over.

I have another couple of weeks to go and then I will probably take the summer off and transfer for the fall. It's going to be hard for me to swap from semesters to quarters.

Valerie: exactly what I was thinking, re the TNR vs. the no-touch dreads. :0)

My last two finals posted today. I love philosophy, but if Kant and Sartre were alive, they would be at the top of my "houses to egg" list right now. It's almost over, almost over, almost o-v-e-r.

If you do go natural for the rest then it will be a great way to compare the results between the natural dreads and the TnR.

Ack, reading your blog reminded me... I have a bunch of hw I need to knock out at some point. I've been playing the lazy card today and focusing on other things.

I'm hoping to be patient enough to let them dread naturally, and that this will be the only TNR. We shall see how patient I can be.
