Welcome.

Eagle's right about palm rolling. it only does 1 of 2 things. If you don't do it much, it won't create any lasting knots. It only makes your locks look neater for a few hours at a time.

If you do it enough to see progress, it will irrevocably destroy your locks. I only palm rolled for the first 2 weeks, daily. And 6 years later I am still trying to fix the damage.

Welcome to the community. So many sites, so many ways, what should you do...Well, first off, look at the photo of Soaring Eagle, founder of this site and a right on great dude...

Now who would you like your advice from? This inspiration is why we are all here, for healthy dreads.

Peace

Thank you for the advise and I'm glad i can wash my hair cuz that's really gross. I've read most of the dreaducation. I'm still kinda confused on the homemade wash solution. it said bs and apple cider vinegar but how much of each do i mix and will that way smell bad?

Welcome. So here are the facts, NEVER refrain from washing your hair. If wax was used, not washing will most definitely cause you hair to rot out. It happened to me in less than 2 months. Wax is a hydrocarbon. And as such, it traps moisture in your locks and causes it to sit there and decompose your hair. You end up walking around with a swamp forming on your head. When you do wash, you will lose most, if not all of your hair. I lost 1/2 of my hair from the pressure of the water, before I even touched it with my hands.

Because wax is a hydrocarbon, no amount of normal soap and hot water will EVER wash it out. It is there forever unless you use a detergent and TONS of scrubbing to get it out. All wax does in the meantime is prevents locking.

Retwisting causes a condition called traction alopecia. It puts too much torque on your scalp and roots, and thins out your locks, and will cause baldness. You should never see your scalp in between your sections.

Palm rolling does 1 of 2 things. If you do it only sometimes, it will not create lasting knots. if you do it enough to see progress, it will severely destroy your locks. I palm rolled daily for the first 2 weeks, and 6 years later I am still trying to fix the damage. There is no middle ground about this one.

What the moral of this rant is is that you should never go to a salon. They aren't taught how to grow healthy locks in beauty school. So what they know, they learned from the bad info that is out the online and from random people they meet who have locks But since they can't charge you for growing healthy locks, they charge you to create monstrosities. Don't listen to a word they've told you. You need to wash out the wax. This can and will take a while. But needs to happen for your locks to grow. Wash your hair 2-3 times a week starting right away. Never wait any specific amount of time to wash.

If you need any help getting the wax out, I'd be glad to give you some pointers. First check out the dreaducation page and the recovery forums.
