I used wax for my first set (against my gut feeling that i shouldn't) and i was NOT happy with them. I HATED my dreads . I ended up combing them out after 6 months of waxing, it was so disgusting! I washed my hair after combing them, and cutting them, it took a week to get the wax off of my undreaded hair, and the first week of washing, my undreaded hair was so gross from all the dirt and grime the wax left, i still shudder looking back on it lol.

yea he is like i have a friend with dreads he knows what hes talking about he said you have to use wax and all this other stuff im like nope im letting them be im going by what i hear on here
Yeah my mom and fiance will see someone with crochet/waxed dreads and be like "look at how nice t heirs are" and i just roll my eyes. My fiance finally gave up, and he plays with my dreads now, and has coped with them. My mom still doesn't understand, but she's laying off. She doesn't say anything until she sees someone else with them lol. I've explained to her over and over why I just let them be, and they will figure themselves out and neaten over time, but I've given up on explaining to her, and stopped listening to her when she says something lol. I love my mom, she's pretty cool 3/4ths of the time, so she'll get it eventually.
thank you this is really going to be a lesson in patience for me and im just gonna stoplisteningto my man he wants to take them out again and start all over with gel and sprits andcrochetingblah i say ill just leave them be
They'll figure themselves out, they're just babies, they'll fluff up, get a bunch of loose hairs, go through a beautiful awkward phase, the loose hairs will turn into new dreads, some dreads may fall out entirely and re-knot on their own, don't worry so much, having dreads should be about learning to just let go, and let things be the way they are meant to be. Much love on your journey <3
