Welcome to the site Matt! For curly hair I'd say go with neglect method, it will probably happen faster for you. Start preparing by washing with just baking soda and rinsing with vinegar, dilute both a lot! It helps by cleaning the hair with no residue while not having to scrub therefore letting the tangles grow.
