Welcome. Glad you didn't use products. But products can usually be washed out. Crocheting is worse than products except for wax. But not by much, wax and crocheting are about equal in destructiveness.
There are ways to fix the damage done by crocheting, but every session sets back your progress by a while. But it's worth fixing

welcome but crochets a huge mistake its extreme destruction and delays progress by 6 minths or more a crochet hook should never be ised on dreads!
just keep letting em do their thing they will get there too
