Also, putting beads in your hair really helps keep the sections seperate plus it significantly helps promote knotting. Literally a day after I put a bead on a loc it gets super super knotty. You can pick them up at a dollar store a thrift shop or even break any old bracelets with beads that you don't wear. Just a useful tip :]

Hello and welcome! Seems we do have similar hair. I wash every 4-5 days with Dr bronners castile soap. They've got great scents like peppermint and rose. Some people will say to wash more often, but my (our) hair is dry, so it really isn't necessary to wash so much.I use jojoba mixed with some oils and water in a spray bottle, I really don't know of any other products that are safe for baby dreads. Alot of stuff is too conditioning and will remove some knots, slowing progress down. I know the poofyness seems unbearable at first, believe me I know. But soon enough you will get used to and even embrace the mess! Its all part of this wonderful journey. Its best to leave your hair down whenever possible, especially when your sleeping. Knots form when hair is down and free to move around. Don't need to sleep with anything on your head, sometimes I sleep in a Beanie. People say it promotes locking but idk. Oh and never sleep with damp hair! Hmm I'm not sure if I answered all of your questions, but don't hesitate to ask anything!

Hey, I seen your message too late and you were gone. No, I'm not ginger, lol. Brown hair. Bits of blonde in there though.

Welcome. Yeah NEVER retwist them after the first time. Retwisting more than 2-3 times a years puts too much torque on your roots and scalp which cause traction alopecia. A condition that leads directly to baldness
