thanks all! they are 7 months old right now! well, what i did was (bad):waxed first month to keep em together (only after wash 1 @ 14 days old and wash 2 @ 24 days old.aloe vera gel to keep down frizzies.spritzing salt water all the time.slept with a scarf on my head the first 5 months. Only now do i take it off, but even still, i sleep with one on half the time. It keeps the hairs at the roots down, so they matt up in the dreads.i crocheted in months 3, 4, and 5.washing weekly, on Thursdays. Ending with salt water rinse which stays in my hair.no palm rolling, and now (since month 5) no crochet or wax. Nothing. I use a floss threader (actually its the DHHQ loose hair tool. I know, its from the devil), but it really helps to pull in loose hairs at the roots. I do this often, maybe once a week.My routine is very minimal now. I used to spend a lot of time crocheting in month 3, 4 and 5, but you know, I firmly believe it helped the solidity of my dreads. Now, I do nothing to them. I have never palm rolled. They just form themselves, but they are really tight and matted close to the roots since i stopped crocheting them.Mostly, I just "wish" them matted, and it happens.

how long did it take you to grow your dreads?
