On messiness...
My husband said my hair was very messy today, after I had washed it and towel dried it. He actually asked if there was something I was supposed to do to it. I told him that it was just doing what it was supposed to. Then I asked if he liked it and he was honest, and said he did not like it and reminded me that he had been against this from the beginning. I told him that I liked it and he said that was all that matters. I wish he did like it, but there is nothing I can do about it. I'm just grateful that he loves me and is accepting of my choices.

shes been noticing how crazy my hair gets but its never the same its always changing hell eventually get use to it and once they mature hell end up loving it
It's not really towel "drying", more like towel "squeezing", gently to get a lot of the water out. My dreads dry pretty fast, with all the fans about the house. LOL I'm not to worried about him thinking it's messy, I just thought it was funny that he's really only made one comment since the beginning.
I think the reason for the messy appearance is that my hair is going grey and has become progressively kinkier as time goes on. It would most likely be rather messy even if I didn't go the dread route. My daughter laughed last night and told me I was "rockin' a white girl afro."
It is funny, no one in public (strangers, etc.) have said anything to me so far about my hair. I have received some rather odd looks, but I just smile and then the people seem uncomfortable with staring and stop. LOL
towele drying might make it mesier
