Hey there chica: about the temporary dreads...there are two kinds; one being single ended, the other being double ended dreads. Both are usually made from synthetic hair, in a burning/cementing method, but if you want REAL hair to make REALdreads, it's possible to get them to dread" naturally".

Single ended dreads have a loop at the top where you'd slip a lock of your own hair through, and braid your hair to the dread, securing it with a rubber band to make it stay.

The double ended dread is basically the same but without a top loop, the MAIN difference being you just braid you hair around the middle of the two ends, and it'll give you more body. There are plently of videos for it on youtube, and that's where I learned to make my single ended dreads from. This is definitely a safe alternative or pre-dread method, to give them a test run. Let me know if you need any extra assistance!

Okay..well I did twist and rip..I watched that video SE sent you. I did one and then posted a picture of it make sure it was right. All you do is twist s section of your hair like you're making a snake out of playdough..then you make the bottem into 2 sections and pull up all the way until you can't anymore. I only twisted a few times then pulled up. my hair was too long to twist the entire strand before pulling..so I twisted alittle starting at the top..pulled into knots and worked my way down tothe bottem. SE told me that when you separate the strand into 2 pieces to seperate it in a different spot each time..not always in the exact middle of the strand. helps make more knots. I washed my hair with non residue shampoo first. I got it from a hair salon inside of walmart..but since then I have found dr. bronners shampoo. I havent used anything else. I sleep with them up in a wool hat (tam) because I've read it helps to lock them up..but SE told me thats its not needed. You can just sleep on them if you want. I actually wash mine quite a bit..everyone says aout every 3-4 days but I wash mine basically every other day and get them wet everyday. It has loosened them alittle and I have some fly away hairs but that would probably have happened anyways and from what I've read, they will eventually make their way into a dread. SE said that the main reason to not wash all the time is to allow time for your locks to dry completely. Mine dry pretty quick so its no problem. But letting them air dry completely is best..dont go to sleep with them wet or put them up in a hat when wet..I've read that could cause mold to form in them. Hmm I think thats everything.. ask me as many questions are you want. I am new at this of course but I tried doing alot of research too haha.

Hey..thanks..I started out wanting really small ones too they kind of are just doing what they want. Once they "lock up" and all the loose hairs (loose now from washing) are in I guess I will see how big they turn out haha. But I think you should go for it..I am 23 now and I wish I had done this back when I was 19 and first wanted them.
