How doth thou function?

Hey all I was wondering how do you guys function in the body of Christ or specifically in the local church? Or how do you serve? I was talking to a friend of mine today and we were noting how many churches do a little but not many take that extra step beyond. Not many are willing to go on mission trips but are willing to pray, not even give money. Some are willing to donate food at church but not go to the shelter and cook and serve it. Lots of faith without works stuff. So I'm curious what works do you guys do?
