First baking soda & apple cider vinegar wash
Today was the first time in three days ive washed my hair. I started the natural locking method a 3 days ago and my head was getting itchy, so i decided to give it a try. I used 1/3 of a cup of baking soda and a Tbs of sea salt with aprox one gallon of water and allow it to work its magic for 10-15 mins. After rinsing it out i used two cap fulls of the acv and mixed it with water and used it on my head, after 3-4 mins i rinsed it out. Hopefully i am doing it the right way and my hair will start locking. At least i felt great afterwards. Wish me luck and i'll keep my blog updated to record my journey.
cool! i gotta do one of these asap
I have been doing a 1/2 cup of BS, 10 drops Tea Tree Oil, 20 drops Rosemary, and 20Lavender for some time now. I was using a few splashs of white vinegar and same EO's to rinse for some time. I just switched to the Apple Cider Vinegar and I hope that it changes my scalp reaction. I mix all this in a big Gatorade bottle, maybe gallon size btw...My hair has got SUPER dandruff. It feels awesome and im about 3 months into my Dread Journey but seriously I need help corrected this severe white out! I will continue to post/ read on this site and hope that anyone can help!
Thanks Ginger and Barrellady, i appreciate both the support and recomendations
Ha, I meant to say ratio of baking soda....peace
Welcome to your dread journey..Try washing with this ratio of baking soad BS and apple cider vinegar ACV rinse. Mix 1/2 cup of BS to 5 cups water. The ratio you were using is probably not strong enough to exfoliate the scalp, yours 1/3 cup BS to 16 cups water. You can add the salt still, or essential oils to the BS mixture. Then the ACV is 1-2 capfuls (depends on hair length or oil condition of scalp/hair) to 5 cups water. Rinse out WITHIN ONE MINUTE. Anything longer may prevent knotting and make your journey longer. Try these ratios and see how they work for you. If your hair or scalp is naturally very oily, just use the ACV once every few BS washes. Growing dreads is a learning process, what works for others may not work for you so ask any questions....but just remember that the journey is a ride, so have no worries, just enjoy and ride the waves....Peace
Sounds pretty good. I like to rinse out the ACV after only a minute or less, because it conditions my hair so well. It's your call, but you may want to experiment with it
