Drugs that harm dreads
I dont know about a list of drugs that hurt dreads. I just know that I found myself with a period that my hair would no longer lock up.Doctors found I was diabetic not long ago and they started me on insulin and Metformin.
Every once in a while my hair might get a couple inches out without locking. But I had 4 inches not locked at all. It was just sosmooth and silky unlike mytypical hair. It was getting scary that I might lose my dreads. I lived on the road for years and have hung out with some tuff characters who made keeping my dreads a real feat at times but Icame closest to losing thembecause of the metformin. I am on a slue of drugsbut narrowed it down to it being that drug. My fingernails where also splitting severly at the time. I am vegetarian but I was even eating jello every day to try to get them to start back up.
I told my doctor that my dreads are more important and quit the drug. They started to lock again within a month and I just have a little narrow spot from when it happened. I am just sayin'.
Good to know about avitamin or supplement that may help dreads out some. Barrel lady. I am sorry to hear about your mom Heidi. They said I was type 1 but now they say I am type 2 diabetic. I am a very bad diabetic. Very insulin resistant. My first shot of insulin was a full unit. That is an entire pen or vial. I was in the hospital with ketoacidosis and an A1C of over 18%. My hospitals meters didnt go high enough to measure my blood glucose. That is very very very sick like death warmed over. Near death and most people are dead already sick. Went blind for awhile. My feet started hurting a long time ago so I had been an untreated diabetic the whole time I had my dreads. I have been a vegetarian most of the last 16yrs. Make my food from whole ingredience. Avoid hydrogenated oils. I use almost nothing but baking soda for deoderant and teeth. Have for years. I am a dirty hippie that uses little soap and no stinky stuff like most people do. I have dreads because I prefer to do absolutely no vanity primping to my hair. Maybe you all will see me at a Rainbow Gathering or a Fest this year because I am feeling alot better now. I am a slave to drugs.
Isuggest metformin for no one. There are other drugs that will do the same thing. I take alot of gabapentin and it does not hurt my dreads.
I am not sure if you can take this with other prescription medication, but Biotin is used for hair growth and to strengthen nails. Found in drug stores in the vitamin section for under $10.
