I have bad dandruff scalp itch/ lumpy bumpy rash at the base of my scalp. This all started when I was doing daily soaks at a hot springs. Before that I have never had any issues with dandruff my entire life. I want to clear this up before my hair dreads. So, this is somewhat gross/embarrassing but I thought I'd put my experience out there. I have had the scalp itch for 2 yrs now. After trying every shampoo I could find-(neem, lavender, head & shoulders, natural ones & drug store brands)
I went to the Dr. and they gave me RX shampoo called Nizoral. It is a chemical anti-fungal. I used it for 1 yr it did relieve the itching but no long term healing results. Intermittently I used straight Lemongrass oil, coconut hot oil treatments, Olive & neem hot oils & tea tree, either I didn't do it often enough or no results other than temporary. I am pretty sure the Dandruff is a type of fungus, as it gets worse with eating sugar, wine, alcohol, mushrooms. Making an effort to clean up diet, no sugar or junk food, eating more garlic, neem, vitamins, fresh fruit and vegetables.
This week I started the baking soda vinegar.
Day 1:
1/2 cup baking soda to 1 Gal water with a few drops of patchouli, peppermint and Lavender oils. Poured over my head then wrapped hair in a towel and let sit for 20 minutes. Tingly cool burning but good feeling. Burning feeling was only at back of scalp, front & top part of scalp did not burn.(healthy skin)
Then 3/4 cup of vinegar in gallon of water rinse. fizzed a little and let set for 5 minutes then rinsed with warm water.
My hair became soft as silk when dry. Ran my fingers through the scalp at the back- no lumps, no dandruff. felt good yummy and clean for the first time in years. Sprayed back of scalp with liquid colloidal silver antibiotic/ anti-fungal.
Day 2
Overnight, the dandruff is back again skin is flaking, itching.(only at the back of the scalp all the rest is itch free and healthy)
Decide to repeat day 1 recipe but no peppermint as I could not help but get it in my eyes. Used Lemongrass- strong anti-fungal, instead of the peppermint. Finish with Colloidal silver spray on back of scalp.

Day 3
Itchy and flaky. Debating weather to wash hair at all but it is itchy. Wash with regular shampoo and conditioner, as baking soda and vinegar is not available to me at the moment.

Day 4
I reached back to itch my head upon waking, flakes, big lumps and my fingertips are wet? my scalp is oozing clear sticky fluid. Front part of scalp is healthy does not itch and no flakes. YIKES. I wonder if I am doing to much or this is actually working. I am anxious to get rid of this yucky dandruff stuff so I can dread! I have decided to do another rinse today but just with lavender oil BS & vinegar. I will continue to post my results later.

Ouch...this sounds terribly uncomfortable. It sounds rather like Psoriasis (sp?) of contact dermatitis. Could you ask your doctor to refer you to a dermatologist?
I do not have access to medical care at this time, the 2 Drs that did look at it dismissed it as dandruff. I am going to continue with the treatment.

Day 4
I did another rinse with BS, lavender and then vinegar/water. burning was not bad, tolerable.

Day 5
Woke up with very wet head, same oozing, more liquid in hair, very itchy. Ate extra vitamins and large amount of garlic.
Rinse with Lavender BS vinegar water, finish with colloidal silver burned a little.
Try just using just peppermint oil in your baking soda wash for awhile.
I know when I detoxed my scalp and hair from chemicals it seemed to take a turn for the worst for a few weeks but since I have been using backing soda and peppermint (alone) its been WAY better.
Some dandruff is very susceptible to too many products, even natural ones.
Playing around with different oils at once can aggravate a sensitive scalp.
heres what i would recomend
1/3 cup 10 drops teatree 30 drops rosematry soak 10 min (dont bother wrapping) now..cold water rinse BEFORE doing the acv i generaly add the same oils to the acv too and 3 min acv soak AFTER rinsing out the bs u do noy want that fizzing reaction and again cold cold water rinse
Ok will try the cold water rinse before the ACV. I have the BS and oils on right now. I don't put any oils in the ACV water rinse. Should I?
The rest of my scalp is happy & healthy its just the area where the dandruff is but I have been treating the entire scalp as not to miss any. I'm going to use the colloidal silver again, as I am afraid of getting infection from scratching. I will see if I can get some tea tree and rosemary tomorrow, may be a challenge I live in a small town with no herb store.

Day 6
back of head is wet upon waking. itchy, scratching produces more puss, small amount of blood.back of head is wet & burns most of the day.
I purchased tea tree and rosemary essential oils.
Do BS rinse with 10 drops rosemary and 30 drops tea tree, 20 mins then rinse with plain cool water. Apply vinegar/ water rinse. this takes off dead skin and puss with out scrubbing! thank heavens as it is very painful to rub or press, feels bruised.
Good new is lumps are draining.
I am disgusted at the amount of puss and want to dry this up and get rid of this yucky stuff. Also aware that this is an open wound at this point. I know it is safe to put tea tree on directly(not for everyone), so I bite the bullet, put it directly on the scalp and leave it in, no rinsing. Front and sides of scalp are still perfectly healthy so I know this is not a reaction to the oils(I have used them for years) I'm going to try to leave this on overnight hopefully I can sleep- the smell is not my favorite.
I am beyond complaining about the burning it does not matter at this point, I'm doing my best to distract myself from the burn/ itch it is now constant 24/7 no matter what I do. I suspect I'm in for at least 1 more week of draining out the ooze. I think this is not the average case of dandruff.
I'm visualizing the scalp completely healing and how good it will feel to have it gone.
Continue to do the same rinse every day and apply tea tree at the end to leave on the scalp.
I have lost track of what day Im on I think 9. pus is drying up. still very itchy, flaky. I intend this will eventually heal. it seems better but not out of the woods yet.

OK after 30 straight days of treating my scalp with all the vinegar and baking soda, various essential oils and the like. I have had no results. I still have the rash/ dandruff. It has intermittently dried up flaked off, only to start the process all over again. I have shaved the back of my head in hopes of getting the creams I have been using, closer to the skin, anti-fungal creams, a homeopathic essential oil blend, Frankincense, myrrh, geranium and peppermint in sunflower oil is giving me the best results as far as itching goes. But none of them cure the problem.( I am about 10 days on to the oil blend, it healed it all up at first then it has continued to weep.) I am going to try a liquid solution of borax, applied several times a day. Im going to try to find borax ointment or make some. I think I may be allergic to tea tree, it makes me sneeze. So I will try pine oil next as it has strong antimicrobial properties. and also make more of an effort to remember eating raw garlic internally everyday. I have also started the Baking soda internally 1 tsp in hot water with a spoonful of maple syrup. This alkalizes the blood and tissues, so bacteria germs and fungus can not grow.
I was hoping to be able to dread by now but I want a healthy scalp first. I did cry out of frustration.
but this did not heal it either.
Be informed none of this constitutes medical advice I am sharing my experiment on myself.
ok Day 535(jk) but not that far off it has been about 3 years since the problem has started. I am happy to report my scalp has cleared, with a product called scalpacin, a liquid hydrocortosone with additional patchouli oil added. after about 10 bottles and daily use my scalp is clear. unfortunately, I had a friend shave the back of my head before finding the cure. so now I am waiting for the hair to grow back, and my boyfriend to be home so that we can start the dread process together.

u should not be pouring on the acv wiyhjout rinsing the bs 1st

use baking soda terteree riosemary the treatree kills the bacterua rosemaery and pepermint treat dandruff not soak the baking soda 10 min then rinse rinse rinse then the acv and rinse then finaly a cold colc cold rinse keep doing that the mixing of baking soda and vinager creates an acisd  by chemical reaction that foaming with heat u want to avoid that u want to rinse the bs before u do acv

oh wow srru responded b4 reading all replues  sounds like u had some real serius issues there but gklad its ccleared up

id be careful what u use awhike use the bs micx in a eweaker state only monthly and maybe the maykless bar betweeen and see how it reacts tio diferent treatments toll u figure out what caused it im betting it was a sensativity to somerthing u used oer the combining of the bs/acxv cauisung that reation

but just go easy on what u use awhile till u fifgure it out
