Comment by Gavin Parsons on April 25, 2013 at 11:52am Love this group :)
I have been on a long and steady process of "unplugging." The contstant battle with our government has more people stepping back and assessing exactly where our world is going. Personally I started out on a spritual battle when I was in the military. I felt some strong vibes that what I was a part of was just flat out wrong (2003). I started traveling when I was stationed in Germany and met so many amazing people backbacking accross Europe. Being a soldier I learned to pack light and could travel quite light when you realize what is necessity and what is just there for comfort. I began to watch labels years ago and started looking up ingredients...WOW. I cant believe they produce this stuff, let alone let the world consume it! The more research i have done the more products i have put on the list of untouchables...(i just got an idea for another group/discussion!) I started going as all natural as possible with foods and hygene when I discovered the "Paleo Diet." In case you havent heard of it, it is basically eating like the cavemen did. It is lots of fruits and vegetables, NO CORN, NO legumes (beans) and only free range, grass fed animals raised in humaine conditions. It is before the agricultural explosion. Before GMOs. Before steroids and pesticides and...well you get the point. Obviously this is almost impossible to achieve in this day and age without raising all this yourself. I live in St. Petersburg Florida now, so luckily I was blessed with having alot of organic markets and ideal conditions for organic farming. The only downfall is the lack of space! We are overcrowded to say the least! I am originally from West Virginia and count the days I can break free from the Rat Race i am involved in right now. See...I have made some bills over the years. So when I pay my debt off, this hillbilly is going back to the mountains! I refuse to file bankrupt. I refuse to "leave the grid" without taking care of my responsiblitlies. And dont get me started on EBT and WallMarts!!! I barely turned 30 and i think in 5 years I can disappear. My family has enough land to get a good start and to the south of their property is endless bliss in the mountains. I have yet to journey to the land of the free in Oregan and Washington, but West "By God" Virginia may have what some of you are looking for, but shhhh its the countries best keep secret thus far!
Comment by Earthstudios on March 7, 2013 at 8:01pm We're still on the mainland, we're going to be taking a trip out there later this year to get our septic installed and home framed up. We'll take photos and get some info posted.
Comment by James on February 13, 2013 at 5:42pm Glad to have found this group. My wife and I have been trying to find a way to break free from the rat race and have actually looked into Pahoa as an option. I would love to hear how it is working out for you there. We are taking steps this year to simplify our life more than it already is and begin the process of finding our little shelter from the storm so to speak...
Comment by Earthstudios on January 24, 2013 at 1:50pm lol, now we got some land on the big island of Hawaii near the town of Pahoa... it is incredibly cheap out there!!!! were talking $5000 an acre! We never really got anything built in California so plans are shifting to where we can grow our own food all year long. I'll make a discussion later with some cool vids :) go to realtor.com and type in Pahoa HI, select land, and put search results low to high. Your going to be amazed!

oh and thank you Earth Studios for the response back awhile ago I neer got an update about it so I forgot to come back and recheck :P BUT again thank you !

So again I am reventuring my curiosity and awe into the vagabonding life, I have to get offline right now so if anyone would like to text me to chat about this and some tips, places etc. I would really appreciate it 7027689920

Comment by Earthstudios on June 1, 2012 at 11:20pm nice little write there Rebecca, I too get to my wits end when I think about how modern society (schools, jobs, tv ect...) has it drilled into us to be good little worker bees and forget all about yourself or your freedoms as a human being. You better strive for that new car. Your yard better be nicer than your neighbors, you better work your ass off to get hand bag that costs $300 and only costs $5 to produce.... WORK WORK WORK CONSUME CONSUME CONSUME, DEBT DEBT DEBT and then DIE, and then when your too busy or hypnotized to notice they'll yank away a few more rights and freedoms in the name of security...

hole*

All I truelly know is that I've built up such an incredible energy through my vegetarian, close to vegan lifestyle, use of reiki and other low energy healings, bare minimum use of consumer products, constant pick up of my neighborhood, compassion for others and the simplest things in life, and weeks worth of psychedelic experiences that I refuse to throw it all away into a whole of choas this world has become. I refuse to work to live and live to work the way its so forceably pressed upon us in this modern age of "civilized" cannibals. And I don't mean work as in put effort towards my life, I mean conventional drone work thats been drilled into us from day one. I'm choosing my steps very carefully from this point out so as to not lose this pride I have in my personal energy. :)
