when wet hairs more easily damaged thats why when you separate its easiest and less painful when wet its more elastic but also drasticly weaker so breaks with less effort
ofcourse being gentles always key but your also doing it every day wich is extremely excessive no matter how gentle
and doing it morrew then once to start is pointless
and your description of what you see happening is absolute proof that it is causing harm
now ill tell you that with 1 guy that did the same rubbing weekly though certainly more agressively after 5 months he removed his (hed also made the wax and crochet miistakes) he found that the rubbing did the most severe harm pulling literaly 1/2 to 3/4 of his hair right out at the roots
1/2 in most places 3/4 around the hairline
it grew back thick quickly so no permenent harm once he stopped but it did cause severe hair loss while doing it
you say that most hairs in neglect are stuck in the dread
thats still true in your case
the parts falling off are an indicdation of trouble but not a sign of the full extent as much of the hairs pulled out are still stiuck in them only a percentage are ableto fall out as these balls
