Is it possible to transition from maintained locks to natural locks cause I start from box braids and my plans was to keep the box braids and let the hair do what it wanted but i was presured to get it done before i went back to school when i was in the 8th grade
and if so is seperating your locks considered as manipulating

ofcourse many here have natura;ized or what we call natural surrender dreads when you start off maintaining then surrender to the natural proces

no seperations  a good idea  if you dont seperate u get masive dreads only those who feel spiritualy or religiosly bound to zero maintenance dont seperate at akll

Separating is manipulations.  But it's not bad.  It doesn't negatively impact your locks.  It does help make them more comfortable.  They'll lay better on your head and feel more natural.

Thanks I appreciate all of the helpful information you are providing
