preparing to embark on my first lock journey
so my hair right now sits at about 3 1/2 in. and im thinking at least 6 in. before i can begin to start. my hair is very straight and thick.. should i start with the TnR method then maybe band them in for a day to get them to set? im worried about my hair not wanting to dread due to it being so straight and oily..

u can start natural at any length but might not dread till 6 inches u can tnr at 5 no bands no bands no bands! start washing now with baking soda (no acv)
it will get less oily in a few weeks

haha i already know what your going to say SE... just let go.. your right the hair will do its thing if i just let it. this decision is one to symbolize the new me. the new changes and choices that lay before me as i try to find my own niche and define who i am. none of which can be hastened my locks included.. still have a long ways to go.. but it will be a fun ride there! ill be sure to take pictures to keep everyone posted and be sure ill have more questions!

stop washing your hair/head with hot water too, that alone makes a huge difference in skin oil production use luke/warm water if you want but finish the rinse with cold water.
well if you start now, by the time it gets to five inches it may already be sectioning itsself out. you may also change your mind on the tnr as well. hair dreeads differently when growing into length so they might take naturally.
and you are right man, dreads are a statement and a symbol. they speak for you.
