So I started my dreads with the TnR method.  For the first month they didn't move much and looked OK.  The second month found them unraveling from the root and tightening towards the tips.  Month 3 was fairly uneventful and most of the top of my head was flat, loose roots that I finally had to stop looking at.  I'm currently just starting my 4th month and am on vacation in Honduras looking to possibly move down here or Hawaii for work (I'm a Scuba Instructor).  I haven't had the chance to go diving since I started my dreads and in just 2 days of diving I've seen more movement than in than the last 3 months combined!  They are going crazy!!  It's like they're so damn happy they're dancing all over the place!  I love it.  So many loops and bumps, twists and turns and just positive good things going on.  If any of you ever find yourself in my neighborhood and want to go diving and make your dreads super happy, drop me a line.

On a side note:  Even though I didn't necessarily like the way they were looking for the last 2 months or so I was getting so many compliments and even have a couple of friends who said that I've inspired them to do theirs as soon as their hair grows out a bit more.  Try not to get down or discouraged with those that think you have to have dirty hair or put lots of crap in there to make it happen.  Use it as an opportunity to educate them.  I love seeing the look on their faces when they find out all their shampoos and products actually leave loads of crap in there and that I wash my hair twice as frequently as they do.
