Dread Accessories

I've been wearing my beads for about six months straight now.

My Employers....

Introduce Yourself

The only compromise I have to make is to wear a hat! Thank you all again! Much love!

My Employers....

Introduce Yourself

So my employers just asked me if I could cut my hair before I return to work over the next week. I've seen Soaring Eagle's letter to employers which is very informative to employers as to why dreads should not be discriminated against and I was just wondering if I could have a copy of that so I could be able to print it off for them to read. :)

Why did I open my Big Mouth?

Dreadlocks Journey Emotional Support

You shouldn't feel bad about it at all. My parents are SUPER conservative. I'm talking 1950's all American leave it to beaver ideology. My folks hate my tattoos, piercings, clothing style and dreadlocks and they cant understand why Im drawn to those types of aesthetics. They are VERY open with how much they dont like my appearance and why. I hear "you'd be such a good looking boy if you didnt' blah blah blah," but they just can't grasp how confident my dreads make me feel. (My girlfriend thinks they're sexy anyway)Thats their opinion and at first they aren't going to be thrilled about it, but in time they will learn the truth about dreads and come to accept that they are yet another method of how you express yourself. Any parent will be supportive of that. :)

Hard water = Dandruff?

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

How long have you had your dreads? I know that during my first two months my scalp tok a little while to adjust to the changes of having dreads, but in time my scalp adapted. Tea tree oil also helps.

Extensions! Help!

Introduce Yourself

A friend of mine put extensions in his dreads made of real human hair. It was more of a sentimental or ritualistic thin rather than to just lengthen his dreads. A girl he knew shaved her head to defy westernsociety's standards for women and he justrolled her hair on into his to sort of commemorate it. Something like that is teh only reason I would ever put extensions in, butthats a little off subject. If I were you I would use real hair for extensions and possibly dye it before putting it in? I don't know though... Just have fun with it!

Well water, hot water tanks

Dread Maintenance

Wow, that IS interesting. Here on campus we have city water but back at home I have well water. I only wash my hair with well water once every three weeks. I wonder if those minerals could cause build up?
