It's summer! and my scalp hates it...

General Questions

Hey everyone :)

I used to have a huge problem with dandruff - but vickies tea tree shampoo helped a lot. That was during winter... now summer is a complete different issue

I find the shampoo dries it out even more, and even after swapping shampoo(and attempting not washing for some time) my scalp is itchy as hell and not exactly flaking but when I scratch my head I have skin under my nails... its horrid and it's visible in the dreads :(

does anyone have any remedies? it's so frikin uncomfortable! ignore the fact it looks bad, I just hate how itchy it is :(

anyone else have such summer problems?

dread wraps?

Dread Accessories

beads - ebay :)

hair wraps can be done with hemp or bracelet floss (like friendship bracelets). and wrap them like you would normal hair. Take as many colors as you want (the thing to get the perfect string length is your hair length x 3) and just wrap it around, its really not that hard :) I have a wrap which is 2 years old, and recently took out one that was the same age - the hair underneath was fine, not tangled at all, not moldy nothing so dont worry about it :) if you want a tutorial I could make one

Do early wraps help lock your hair? and other wrap concerns...

Dread Accessories

I have 2 hair wraps from before I began dreading (so the wraps themselves are around 2 years old). I took one out because it was simply falling apart, the hair inside was 'normal', not dreaded at all, no mold or mildew, perfect straight untangled hair :P from where you begin the wrap, thats where the dreads will start - anything inside will be un dreaded. Go for it and make them, its no harm :)

I used just normal bracelet floss, or hemp and just wrap it around, its not rocket science ;)

ends of dreads..

Dread Maintenance

Thanks everyone for the replies :) I use vicki's shampoos from day 1 actually I love the shampoos, but always rinsed it out immediately - so I'll leave it in for some time and see how that goes :)

my rats are doing great! they alter my locks by finding a few and sleeping in the roots xD its heavy but its adorable so I let them :) maybe I'll upload more photos of those cuties

Donna - I plait a few of them just for the fun (and frustration) of the non locking.Did you blunt them?

I do have a few dreads which are locked until the bottom, but they are tangled pieces of mess (that i really love!). I just wish the rest of them would follow with that

ends of dreads..

Dread Maintenance

my dreads are free formed - 100%. I was just wondering if adding a bead or something would help since I have about 10cm of hair not locking at all... I love my locks how they are, but I wish the tips would lock a little more

The Dyeing of the Dreads! What Color Are Yours?

Dreadlock Styles and Dread Styling

natural dark brown, bleached to medium/light blonde :) I use normal box bleach at home - I dont trust anyone to touch my dreads (apart from my boyfriend who helps with the back). I have a few in pink/ turquoise/ blue all from directions mixed with conditioner :)

it's fun, but I'd suggest bleaching at least before hand.. bleaching dreads is one of the hardest things I've ever done
