Thank you! And no they weren't. I used twist and rip but without really twistng it, so it looked more woven than twisted. As for sizing, I had wavy hair that sections naturally so i worked off what my hair wanted to do. They're mostly all about 1 to 3 cm at the base

They look great, and you look amazing with them. Were they really twisty after just being done? And do you know the general sizing patches you used?

4 1/2 Month Update! birdie TIMELINE

4 1/2 Months

So I'm not great at updating, moving on :). It's been 4 1/2 months and I can't say they even closely resemble what they were.

I'm washing every 2 or 3 days: BS with Tea Tree, Rosemary and Peppermint followed by and ACV/Oils rinse. I've really just let them be and given them lots of love vibes. I'll try to rummage up photos of the last 3 months, but here they are now! :)

The back and he underneath has shown the most progress. Some have become very thick, spongy feeling and super tight.

The pieces in the front that I last mentioned had unfurled, ended up coming apart completely and stayed loose and silky until a couple weeks ago. All of a sudden, tight knots were forming at the root and the rest is following.

Some of the baby dreads have shrunk by at least 6 inches and are now chilling around the base of my neck. Others havent shrunk much which makes it a little gap-py like above.

And EVERY SINGLE dread to be has these nutty loops and swoops and squiggles. Some of the bumps are pretty big but all is cool. They have personality.

Haha So Fun. Enjoy your Journeys Beauties.

Week One

I started with TnR, had elastics at the base.

Week Two

I've taken all the elastics out and the fuzzies have set in! It's loosening up and filling out. I know they'll tighten up again :)

They're kinda of limp right now....i think this is normal.

Week Three

"to choose doubt as a philosophy of life is akin to choosing immobility as a means of transportation"

I'm a fuzzball, i'm messy and knotty and loosey goosey and i be loving it.

I did have a medium length bang and i don't think those hairs are ready to join me on my journey yet. Those particular twists have unfurled but no matter - I trek on! They'll catch up when they're ready (:

Happy Movember by the way !

A LOT of hair has escaped my baby dreads on the right side as well. Those loosies are forming knots of their own and the sections are intersecting all over the place.

So parts of the front and right side of my hair has forsaken the contained twists I put them in and seem to want to form their own natural neglected way. I have to admire the rebellion :P. The result is that it looks drastically different from various angles.

Back

I actually really love what the loose pieces are doing naturally. They're wavy and knotted and beautiful and they make me feel like I shouldn't have tried to control any aspect of this process. I won't do anything about it though considering the escape artistry my hair has demonstrated. I believe my dreads will sort themselves out they way they wish. Ahaaa So-Enjoying-It!

Updates to come!

The Fuzzies

General Talk

So the fuzzies have set in. I took the elastics out of em a few days ago and my TnR dreadies are now getting all loosey goosey and fuzzy et j'adore cette processus! I know they'll tighten up again in time but every day I wake up excited to see what silliness has manifested itself for the day.

Essential Oils and Washing; Experiences?

General Questions

Rosemary and sage are now on my to obtain list! ooh orange and spearmint would make a zesty combination!

Sage is amazing. If you use peppermint, don't use a lot. It's strong. And it is pretty caustic to the skin. In that much water you'd be fine. But if you use it for anything else, make sure you dilute it with either water or, better yet, jojoba oil.

As for washing, I usually used teatree (good for your skin and hair), rosemary (promotes hair growth and healthy hair), and peppermint for itchies. When I felt like it I loved adding lavender or sage.

If you want to be exciting, try eucalyptus and spearmint. Or ginger and orange

Essential Oils and Washing; Experiences?

General Questions

Essential oils were always around when I was growing up and so i've amassed a decent collection. I've read SE's description and recipe for the BS ACV wash (link below) andunfortunately at the moment i don't have any rosemary oil.I'm set on lavender and tea tree! I'm going to be doing the BS ACV wash and I was wondering what people's experiences were with any of these essential oils;

Bergamot, Mandarin, Rose, Geranium, Peppermint....(on a side note Vanilla, i don't expect this to be good but im curious)

Would love to hear what you beautiful people have tried, smelled and enjoyed!
