Best method to dry dreads in winter

Dread Maintenance

Hey guys and gals!

I've been looking around, but won't you guys please help me quickly.

I'mapproachingmy first winter season with my dreads (Yay!) and I'm wondering about what would be the best way to dry them in the winter months. Winter is fastapproachinghere in Cape Town and the season is cold and rainy.. so normal air and sun dry won't be an option...

My dreads are almost 10 months, not very thick and they range in length, the longest being on my shoulder.

So would yourecommenda hair dryer etc. etc ?

Thanks for the help! :D

crochet and dread tools recovery

Hey guys and gals! Hope all is blessed.

I'm posting to say that my crochet recovery is doing great!! And I would like to ask some questions about maintenance.

My locks are 2 weeks from 9 months old and I have not touched them with a needle since the initial crochet accept for washing them 2 times a week.About two weeks ago I took some scissors and trimmed some of the loose hair from the body for a neater look, I have not touched the roots, but now slowly these little guys are creeping out of the dreads again!

My question is on maintenance, as far as I can see on the site the way of maintenance is mostly doing nothing?? Am I right? And if so, I'm 9 months in and still have a quite big amount of loose hair at the roots and coming out of the dread-body (I have included pictures)

Is there something I should do? (Palm rolling etc?) or is it really just a time thing, or am I just being to fussy :P Generally im not worried, just wanted to make some enquiries.

Thanks dudes and dudettes :D

Crochet to Natural...Questions :)

Help! Save My Dreads

Hey Guys and Gals! Jaco from Cape Town, South Africa here. Greetings in love. This is my first post, just created the account after seeing this is by far the best dreadlocksite ;) on the web. Big ups to all involved. Here's the situation/question..I started my dreads almost exactly 5 months ago by crocheting them. So from no dreads to a head full of crochet dreads. Like most people I have read about I only find out after that was a horrible idea haha. So i left them...Almost 5 months since the 1st and only crochet session. The reason im posting is because I have ALOT of loose hair and they look a bit more than a mess than dreads. At my roots and on the body of most of the dreads i can feel them knotting up nicely, but allover and at the tips i have loose hair, and alot! I included some pics. You maybe cant see from the pic but I have 40 of them... so do I just continue on the current course of leaving them? I palm roll with Aloe gel occasionally, but not much at all. I know time is the magic ingredient but I want some advice from fellow sojourners through the stages of the dread path haha.Much love and thanks!Hope to hear soon.
