UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE!!!!!! so over new years I've had some mad shrinking going on 
I'm a little nervous about how short it is going to get as I'm getting married in april, and was hoping for some length, but they are getting really tight and rad

So I'm at almost 3 months. I am so very happy so far. I'm not bothered by the mess, the frizz, and i'm in love with my bumps and loops. I'm making this timeline mostly for my own record so here I go!
Pre throwing away my brush. I'd been doing bs/ acv wash for about a year at this stage and my hair was a nightmare
So 2 days in Sep 28
16 Oct ( 10 days shy of a month ) i'd done some tnr at this stage and brushed out a lot
November 10, everything had unravelled, loose hair everywhere, and unmanagable. had to separate 2 Huge uncomfortable dreads at the top back of my head. My 2 became 6
Then Nov 26. things had gone wild loops, bumps, frizz, tight spots, and having to separate like crazy. I think that's when I really let it go, and stopped trying to make them "NICE"
Now Today Dec 13 ( almost at 3 months) I have the beginnings of what I think will be MAJOR shrinkage!. I have some very tight spots now, and my dreads have their own personality. I have heard all types of criticism, my Oma tried to attack me with a comb on more than one occasion, and i have received unwanted advice about crocheting, and wax to 'fix' my dreads, But have started to get my first compliments as well from strangers. I love my babies, and can't wait to see what they do next
you can still see my remaining tnr ones. I wish I never did it
Thanks so much, i'll separate the 2nd one tomorrow, cos it's awkward, and maybe leave the 1st and see how it goes

hhhhmmm I personally prefer smaller, that's just me tho. I would let it do it's thing for a while and see how it feels. I had about 4 different sections congo in the first couple months creating some decent sized fatties. They were ok but all on the right side of my head. Anyway, when they grew together I figured I would just let them be and see how they turned out. They looked good and everything but I just wanted them smaller, so I separated them. Now the right side of my head feels fuller lol
If you want a couple big ones, you have the perfect start right now
Let it go for a few months and see just how big it gets. Just pay attention to your comfort level when you're laying down and that it doesn't hurt your head, especially when it's wet.
Ok, that's great. Thanks heaps for the speedy response, and awesome advice. It's dread wash day tomorrow, so will work on separating them while they r wet, The rest are all pretty much the same size as the other pics ( in the comments) so they are my only 2 to worry about. CHEERS
the 2nd one I think I shoulddefinitelysplit, because as you said itsalready2 parts anyway, but the top one is just big i think and notawkwardlyseparated, but I don't want it to be uncomfortable. What would you think?

In the main post, the second pic, the roots are already in 2 sections so just take those 2 sections and pull them apart. The top pic, the really big one...it may take some work but do the same thing, Do it when it's wet tho, much much easier. I've just separated a couple of mine over the last couple weeks and they're over a year old.

Mons said:Do you want them smaller? The one in the bottom pic has an easy solution, after you wash the next time, just pull it apart from root to tip. It's easiest when it's wet. It's hard to tell with the top pic. It looks like you could probably separate it as well if that's what you want. All those small clumps of hair around it, I would just gently pull them away from the bigger one that's trying to suck them up. To separate, just take two dreadies and pull them apart.
