Mats of Dog Hair

Dread Maintenance

I've been told that about mine too. Whomever is saying it isn't entirely incorrect, it's the same concept only with clean, human hair. I laugh it off; soon they'll look like dreads. Until then though, I'll enjoy my furballs. ;) All the best to ya'!

Is a womans sexual appeal/value really in her hair?

Dready love

I had a lot of issues with questionable men hitting on me pre-dreads. It was awful, mostly because I can NOT stand the "Hey sexy/baby/cutie..." opener that those types would try to initiate a conversation with. That doesn't cover the beginnings of it though...I was "engaged" to a guy briefly - it's a long story for another time - and when I started my first set guess who was the most vocal against it? Guess what it finally opened my eyes to? The guy was a misogynistic, promiscuous, shallow, lying creep. And so were all the other guys out there just trying to get laid. I realized how dumb I was being and how bad it was for me to remain in that relationship. It was a part of the final straw. Now, seven months this set of locks, I still get attention from males albeit on a lesser scale from the kind only out for one thing... And more from the kind who want to talk, date, and get to know me. It's refreshing. I'm much happier dating with dreads than without. They attract the less shallow type of guys.I feel you're correct. My hair has had a huge influence on how I'm viewed by men. I love that I'm now more like a sentient being with feelings and personality rather than just another hott piece of ass on the meat market or whatnot, lol.

Trends in the Locking Process

General Talk

KnotLady inspired this question from a reply to a post...Have any of you noticed trends in your dreads' development? The example she posted was she noticed her baby dreads that immediately formed paddles also matured the fastest. I know that my dreads with bigger sections seem to be maturing faster than my smaller sections. Also, I noticed that more looping happened when I had to really TEAR a couple of dreads apart. Actually, a couple of my first loops were formed like that. Well, what have you all noticed?

Medical Dreadies?

Life Issues Facing Dreads

You should be fine. Sometimes the dreads will help you connect to otherwise unruly patients and I'm sure sometimes they may put off pts.I had a polysubstance intox pt the other day who gave night shift HELL. The first thing she said to me was that she liked my dreads. We hit it off from there. I like to think she opened up because she saw I was "different" buuuut lol I'm sure it had more to do with her sobering up. Who knows? But many patients are intrigued by them and it gives them a way to relax and just converse.I second what Baba said though. I'm pretty sure if you have to wear a mask for your job, you will be required to brush them out. When safety is at stake you have to do what you have to do, you know? If you're just doing EMS then I bet you'll be ok but I would guess dreads are out of the question for police/firefighters who have to don gas masks/protective masks. You might look into that.Best wishes on your EMT classes! I almost got my first responder and was considering becoming a paramedic but the thought of throwing my back scared me... so now I'm pursuing nursing... Another career path with one the highest amount of back injuries... Lol, whatever! No matter what though, you've picked an awesome field!

Hello all!I recently purchased and used two procucts from Bucks County Soaps. Specifically, I bought their shampoo bar, Goddess, and the pink Himalayn sea salt spray. The products were mailed out promptly and the handwritten note from Vicki was a thoughtful touch. A sample of Nag Champa scented soap was included which I also found thoughtful and intelligent on her part. The bar itself is rather large, lol, and doesn't fit into a traditional soap protector but that's really my only (and extremely trivial) complaint. The scent is lovely! For me, I notice the scent of grapefruit first and then the floral notes. It's a clean, crisp, and moderate scent, not heavy at all.As for performance, it doesn't lather much for me but I know that isn't an indicator of inefficacy because I could feel it coat my hair and after the shower it left my dreadies feeling super soft and light. Even in my horribly hard water it cleaned my hair and rinsed out completely. The best part was it left that delicious scent in my hair. I've missed the feeling of having my hair smell fresh and yummy after a shower. Essential oils just didn't stick around long enough. I'm satisfied with this product. The sea salt spray also has me satisfied. I won't continue this but I applied it to my damp hair after both showers and it seems to not have any adverse consequences besides itching after a day. It too has a light smell but it doesn't linger. I thought the product left my hair feeling crisp and ready to tangle just like after a day in the ocean. In time I will know if it is helping - or rather HOW MUCH it is helping -and will update more then.Overall, I have to say Vickie does make a great line of products. I highly recommend them and am looking forward to trying different scents!Sorry for any typos, this was written on the fly from my phone. Best wishes!
