Dread a Wig?

General Questions

I've had kaneklon dreads before and they suck. they unravel fast and you can tell they're fake from a mile away. And when people ask you how long you've been dreading and you tell them they're fake they lose interest in your dreads and it leaves ya feeling kind of embarrassed at least that's how I felt. I know it's already been said so please don't get mad at me, but I would just wait till you can dread your own hair you'll feel so much better about them and then they really will be YOUR own babies. :)

Anyone know anything about the new Garnier Fructis Pure Clean shampoo?

Dread Maintenance

It's supposed to be residue free, at least that's what it said on the commercial but on the page there it says no heavy residue. It also says it makes your hair shiny which I don't think dreadlocks want right? I was just curious about it though since it says residue free and I was thinking about giving it a try but was wondering what you guys thought!

Opinions on the skirts I just made, please?

General Talk

Thank you for your honesty, I really do appreciate it. :) I think I might try the pleat idea and I've been looking at these lighter fabrics that are at the fabric store I work at, they're a little pricey though but I do agree the skirt would look a lot better with a more flowing fabric. I got a dress form for Christmas though so I'm going to work with the skirt and see if I can perfect it in anyways!

I understand, thank you for your advice :)

If you are looking for a long flowing skirt, I have this wrap one that I made. (sorry my shop is so empty, I'm new to Etsy). Not trying to pressure you or anything though, just thought I'd send ya the link to let you know it's out there :D

This one costed me about 20 dollars to make so it's a bit cheaper then the 3x deal because $60 just seemed way to much for a skirt to me. Just my opinion though lol.

They're cute, but I wouldn't buy them. Nothing against the skirts. I just have five kids and still have baby weight to lose. Plus, I prefer the more flowing, longer, hippie style skirts but seriously, very innovative. I have just started looking into upcycling my clothes for when I start to lose weight. (My son just turned two and that is usually around the time that the weight starts to fall off...weird, I know but it's how my body works I guess) Clothes are too expensive and too mass produced and I have a lot of really great items that I can taper in, change the style...but I am still lagging in the creativity department, lol. If I saw your skirts on sale though, I would say that cost wise, I would expect to spend between $15 and $30...I like the x3 idea. I would go with that.

Thank you! That's a great way to sell things. Sounds like a very fair deal! What is it you make and sell?

I think they look great! I would go by the rule of 3 when / if you sell them. That's what I normally do with my things. I take the total cost it took me to make the object and multiply it by 3. 1 for the object, 1 for me and 1 for a future project / savings. I also like trading too. Good luck if you choose to sell and good luck with your future crafts :)

Lol what a coincidence! I'd love to see one of the skirts you made, they sound very pretty.

Cute'] Look well made, too. I like the first better, just because I'm not fond of pastel colour. It's funny, I'm making skirts this week, too, lol. I have made up a pattern (if you can call it that!) for Thai wrap skirts. I loved one on etsy, but didn't want to spend the 35 bucks....sooo. One done and one in process...batik is my fave fabric to work with.

Thank you :) I like the shorter one also I think although the feeling of the second is nicer because its flowy lol. Maybe I'll put one up on Etsy and see if it sells.

oh and also, if I am to put one up on Etsy how much do you think it would go for?

I've been really in to making these wrap skirts for the past few days. No zippers, buttons, elastic, or anything like that. Just a strap that wraps around you and the skirt to hold it all together. I was thinking about selling some but I really don't know how well they would sell. So my questions are 1. Would you buy one of these skirts? and 2. If so, how much would you spend on a skirt like this? I can do a variety of lengths and sizes. The ones in the pictures are probably about a small/medium. So let me know what you guys think! I can also use different types of fabric depending on what you like. The longer skirt is made of polyester I believe and the shorter skirt is cotton.

Let me know what you think! I appreciate all comments. :)
