White residue on scalp

Dread Maintenance

I get that when i use too much baking soda, and it sounds like you are. I've been washing my hair with baking soda and acv for over 5 years now. The ratio that works best for most people is tablespoon baking soda for every cup. And make sure you rinse it out well.

Finally got around to an introduction...

Introduce Yourself

I've been a member here for a few months, have made a handful of posts. I usually just lurk around forums for a while until i get comfortable enough to post.

I didn't intend to have dreads really. I did think about it at one time years ago and my cousin suggested she help me do them with wax but i passed. I haven't used shampoo for like 5 years now and just this spring my hair really became it's own entity and wanted so bad to dread, i fought it for a month or so, painfully brushing it out. Then i just said, "screw this, let it do what it wants", within the day i had my first dread starting.

It's been almost 6 months now. The first three weeks i always put it up in a bun durn the day because it was a mess, but after that i just embraced the wildless of it to the horror of my mother. Lol.

A little about me. I'm 26, live on a tiny Island in Canada that thrives on tourism and the ocean that surrounds it. I have two crazy, beautiful, wild little boys i'm raising by myself. One is almost 3, the other almost a year. I'm one of those natural "crunchy" moms who carries their baby's around instead of putting them in a car seat/swing/stoller, uses cloth diapers and elimination communication, and breastfeeds into toddlerhood.

Essential oils in the UK.

Dread Products

Essential oil is just plain expensive. Maybe cut back. I rarely use anything but BS and ACV, essential oil is just like a treat for my dreads.

How do u "wear" ur dreadlocks?

General Talk

I try to let mine down freely as much as i can but it gets in the way. My baby boy is always pulling at it so i put it up in a pony tail. Because they are still young dreads and pretty frizzy on top, if i want them to look more 'dread - like' i pull the top into a pony tail and leave the rest down. Otherwise i have a headband in to pull it back off my face.
