Awful Dandruff!

Dread Maintenance

Mos def stop the hot showers! I wash my hair twice a week, if I must. I have found that Trader Joe's makes a nice, mild tea tree & peppermint shampoo. I don't use a lot, but it helped with my horribly itchy scalp. I also focus way more on washing / massaging my scalp than on washing my dreads.

Itchy and flaky scalp

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

Thank you. I don't do the bicarb because it's just too abrasive for me. I'm already using peppermint. Perhaps I'll try rosemary.

Itchy and flaky scalp

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

I am having the same problem right now! My dreads itch every winter, no biggie. But this summer??? Man, the itch is awful and there is flaking! I know people assume dreads are dirty, but I don't want them to see flakes in my dreads and feel they are validated in thinking so! Will Head & Shoulders not hurt them? I'm concerned about any kind of conditioning agents because my hair didn't / doesn't dread easy and I don't want to do anything counter productive to them. They are years old, but it still concerns me.

Thank you for any feedback! XO

Thank you : ) I can put up with abit of itching, just not the flakiness, it's kind of unsightly.
