Why Dreadlocks?

I am a very crunchy person and I feel dreads jive with my lifestyle. I also want to grow my hair back out and when it starts to get long, it's really hard to maintain because my hair starts to tangle badly in a matter of a few hours. My hair was really long and I ended up chopping it all off and kept it short for years, all the while thinking I should have just let it dread naturally. so now my hair is longer and I have chosen to do it because I think they are beautiful

I have several I guess you could call them baby dreads? basically a section of the hair where in the middle it's a tangled mess with a couple inches of straight hair at the bottom. when will the bottoms start to dread?granted it's only been two weeks and I understand this takes time, just wanting to know if that's the way it normally happens

I use to "no poo" a few years ago for about a year and I just mixed bs and water in a shampoo bottle, scrub my scalp, rinse with water, pour ac vinegar water 1/10 over then rinse with water again. if the bs is dissolved in the water i dont know why it would leave flakes on your head. i never left it on my head more than the minute i washed my scalp either.

It's wonderful to look at the beautiful people here. I feel deprived when short hair is all that I see around me.
