Dreads and Diets

oh my dear!! definitely a challenge it will be. but SE is right. not only will u adjust, but if u were to change ur lifestyle and what u consume, ud probably find that if u were to "treat urself" it probably wouldnt b much of a treat at all and may even taste disgusting. if u want u can message me and it would b my pleasure give u a few really good resources that may seriously motivate u to change ur diet, not bc u have to, but bc u'll want to. sometimes that makes all the difference. i wish u luck and strength!!!

OCCUPY WALL STREET *PEACEFUL REVOLUTION, HAPPENING NOW ON WALL STREET*

General Talk

andi dont believe there is any 'praying for the hearts of the few' that will matter. these few, these people, the majority of them, r in possession of money that goes back generations. raised n bred by generations of people (rockefellers anyone?) who ingrain in their very beings nothing but the money driven power hungry motivation that led there grandfathers and those who came after to CREATE WARS for the purposes of gaining MORE money. MORE control. they wreak havoc on OTHER COUNTRIES!!!! what would make anyone think they're not wreaking havoc on us?!?! there is no end in sight for them. it is EXTREMELY important that this protest is happening now. everyone sits around connected to their cell phones and ipods, so content in their happy little worlds, SO DISCONNECTED FROM REALITY, while OUR WORLD IS BREAKING DOWN AROUND US. this protest should not stop until change is made. MAJOR change. my friends have been maced for standing on the sidewalk speaking their minds!! i hope this protest continues for as long as it takes. and i feel SO PROUD and SO GRATEFUL to every single person that takes the time to stand in the street and say WHATS WHAT. look on you tube. what u dont see in the news is the serious police brutality taking place during this protest. it is abominable. we should b horrified that this is what has become of our country. and that our country that people want to b proud of think nothing of devastating countries and peoples that corporate america deems expendable. it is absolutely SHAMEFUL. i am not proud to be an american right now :(

it is no joke!!!! this isnt just about the 1% having all the money!! this is about the people fighting corporate america!! go down there and speak ur mind. it is ur right!!!!!!! this 1% has been paying $0.00 in taxes for the past 3 years. thats means that when the economy crashed in 2008 and u all started hearing stories in the news about people who were killing their families and offing themselves bc they lost their jobs and homes and well being, while these billionaires of which there are only approxiamtely 400 in this country were paying NO TAXES!!! they have all the money. what do the protestors want??? justice!! this is wrong!! my friends go down to wall street every chance they get. at some point the police (who r also getting screwed but r too afraid to lose their jobs and protest themselves) wont have enuff plastic bracelets. they wont have enuff mace. we r the 99%!! its important we exercise our freedom of speech! this goes beyond money. for example, r u able to go to ur food market and buy vegetables that arent loaded with pesticides?!?!!? this is a fight against BIG MONEY. this is a fight against the few controlling the many. this has been going on for over 30 days, and we should have a SERIOUS amount of respect for every person that goes down there every day, bc unless ur a billionaire too? they are speaking there voice on your behalf as well. true story.

sorry you went through that heather. i've been there many times (not just because of my hair). and patrick is right. i'm mixed and have gotten it from both sides and then some. you, unfortunately, were victim to an ignorance attack. don't take things like this to heart. though it is so sad because these people breed more ignorance every day :[on another note, i agree with mary. my only regret about my hair is that i've spent more of my life with it chemically altered than dreaded, but that will one day change! and see? you're hair is beautiful, and for her one nasty comment you got a basket full of nice ones!peace :]

hey everyone. wasn't sure where the best place to post this was.. (feel free to move it.. ), but i think it would be really cool if in our profiles under 'how long have you been dreading' we all try to put a date. or at the least a month and/ or year. it's not always easy to tell when someone joined (or maybe i'm just lazy?) but if you put something like 'a couple of months' by the time someone reads it later on you can't really know when a couple months ago was. especially if you post pics of where your dreads are now. i love seeing the progressions of growth and i love knowing how old people's dreadies are! ^_^

Hello, My introduction

Introduce Yourself

totally go natural of you can! it's really not as bad as you would think as far as looks.. with hats, bandannas and pulling it back hopefully there's a way for you to work around it. i sectioned my hair off as well to start and quickly realized it wasn't happy. I let it go and it re-sectioned itself and it's much better! You'll probably have great results doing it naturally with curly hair :) ...and hi!!

Dread Maintenance

interesting, i separated mine somewhat in the beginning (3 months ago) because my hair gets matted very quickly when it's neglected. so i knew if i did nothing i'd be growing a few giant congos. BUT i noticed fairly early that my hair was fighting some of the separations i had made. and they were growing in a 'funky' way and i had to keep on top of having them parted. after about a week of this i gave up. plus i felt it was kind of defeating the purpose of doing it naturally so to speak. i just let it go. and many of them re-separated in their own way. and they stopped being funky ^_^

i don't know if it would help you, how long your hair is or how far along you are, but that was my experience. maybe something to look out for for people starting out. hope it evens out soon. scalp pain sux :( oh, also i don't sleep with anything. i'm being patient, but everything is moving along fine. i think the bed head thing helps move it along. as well as washing it a lot. even if it's just a water rinse. again, my experience..
