Conditioner and Dreads

Dread Maintenance

Whether your using a shampoo or BS washes follow them with a ACV (or any vinegar) Rinse. There's lots of guides to the bs Acv wash.If your already doing the bs acv wash, leave the vinegar in a little longer before rinsing

i want to grow neglect locks..help

Introduce Yourself

Take a 2 litre jug add to it:3-4 tablespoons of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) -this cleans the hair3 drops of Rosemary Essential Oil - helps keep scalp heathy3 drops of Lavender Essential Oil - natural anti fungal and smells great lol2-3 drops of tea tree Essential Oil - repels Lice(Can use many other oils if you want and there's some good advice on here with regards to them.)Now fill your jug with HOT water and mix well. And leave to cool whilst you wet your hair. Now pour the mixture over your head and leave for 7-10 mins.Next rince your hair really well but don't rub it or you'll reverse the knots. Just rince your scalp and the dreads will take care of themselves. Now rince your jug out and add to it about a quarter of a shot glass of Apple cider Vinegar. Or any vinegar really. And fill with cool water.Pour this over your head. And leave for a few seconds at most before rincing. The longer it's in the more moisturised your hair will feel but too much will cause your baby pics to detangle.Never mix the bicarbonate and vinegar as it causes a mass of foam and does no good to your hair. Always rince between. It's that simple. Wash as often as you like and I look forward to the coming pics lol

Old vs young

General Talk

I've often thought we live in an ever more tolerant society. And when I had long hair it was confirmed to me by the fact the younger people (under 50) loved my shoulder length hair and over 50s tended to describe me as a roughen or messy. But with dreads I've found my older encounters positive and complimentary. And most of my prejudice has been from 40s and under.Anyone else had similar experience? I think it's a sign of the worlds views when each generation was impressionable to such things. People who were young in late 60s are more tolerant of dreads than those born into the deep depression of the 70s etcMaybe rubbish just getting it out there. :-P

Dreads & SHINGLES. Help.

Help! Save My Dreads

Firstly relax! Not a problem. Firstly go get treatment asap. Then follow it until shingles have gone. Then learn to just leave the hair alone. It will take some time to dread up on it's own again but it will do it eventually. No maintenance required at all. Roots will then grow fine and dreaded.Cutting them won't make any difference. So may as well keep em.I work in the Heath care system and I can assure you the faster you act the quicker you'll be back to normal life. For useful info on shingles of the scalp and shingles in generalhttp://www.everydayhealth.com/shingles/scalp-problems.aspxKeep us posted yea were all thinking of youXxx

Is there a good drying method

Introduce Yourself

I bought a black town (black hair) and washed it about 10-15 times with no softener. That way it's less likely to leave fluffy bit in my locs. I have like four of them I was all at once. Just don't use softener or you'll be picking bits of fluff out for months lol

Stopping the congos

Dread Maintenance

I found this to be a problem also. I don't wear a tam when I'm home unless need hair out of face. Works for me.

soaringeagle said:

stop wearring the tam constantly thats why they are doing that leave em hang loose the more u wera a tam the more u fgotta seperate

if theyre not being forced to dread inside a tam they will dread as individual dreads and not try to become 1 massive tam sghaped dread
